I am going through almost the same thing now. I will be having a cat scan soon. I was told that the pain in the groin area is because I am not holding my leg in proper position - my leg is slightly rotated outward and therefore is making the wrong muscles overwork - those in the groin area rather that the muscles on the side of the leg. The muscles on the side of the leg are also hurting because of the wrong placement of the foot. I have an audible clicking in my hip when I turn on either of my sides when I am in bed and when I do certain execises - after 6 months the doctor is finally listening to me and has ordered a cat scan however from what I have researched on the internet - there may be a tear in one of the muscles which will need an MRI with dye in your system to locate the tear then after that you will need to be off your leg for a period of time and then physical therapy. I am not a doctor but this is what my research has brought me to. Good Luck.
