My wife and I are trying to conceive for a long time. We went through detailed examinations, but no problems were determined with both of us. I have to say that she smokes, and takes a glass or tow of vine for lunch and/or dinner. I tell her that it is a bad thing, that she must not do that if she wants to get pregnant. How do chemicals such as nicotine, alcohol, caffeine and colchicine affect mitosis?

Hi. I think that you should relax a bit. If everything is ok, then you have to let everything go naturally. Unfortunately, all the substances you have mentioned could have negative effects for the pregnancy. Also, those chemicals might affect the pregnancy itself, when it happens and thus, damage the embryo (especially in the first trimester).
