I heard that a hymen can be broken before you have sex. Whether it is by vigorous activity, riding a bike or some other reason to sit on something that involves spreading your legs. So, how do you know if your hymen is broken if your virvin like me? Also, how painful is the first time on a scale from 1 - 10?

hymen is a very thin membrane and easily could be broken with bit pressure exerted over it, pressure under thighs could cause it !
Because of thigh exercises, running, cycling or even swimming it cause its split, Riding a motor bike won't pressure you into inner thighs so please feel free about riding bike :-)
and about sitting on anything which involve spreading your legs might another cause for split of hymen.
