I will say only this.: If Jesus could take all the pain for humans,for you too ask yourself can u not do this for Him ? for you ? show that u have the strenght too. ! Hell is waiting for you...but if u wanna get off methadon you have to go trough hell.

I have been on & off methadone since 10-05-I feel the same way. I have tried 3 times to decrease and each time- ive ended up back at the clinic. I can handle the slow detox but when I did get off I had no energy/appetite & sleep probelms. I was off methadone for 4 months and still was not feeling normal-so if course I ending up using again and went back to the clinic. The key is knowing our strengths. I know that if I went cold turkey or did a slow withdraw then I'd end up back where I started. At this point. I don't have the self control to even try.

All of you who have stopped and are still successful. Way to go!!! You rock. You give the rest of us hope.

Wish I had the ability to stop-but I have always been a whimp about withdrawls & I know that on day 3 I'd be calling the Mexicans (here that's code for getting h)

Hi everyone. I have been trying to get off methodone for a couple of months. My doctors have been slowing going down on my doses. I started at 25 mg 2 times a day and now I am at 5 mg at bedtime. I have to say I never knew how hard this was going to be. Trying to keep a job and sleep at night is a nightmare. I feel hopeless. I was given methodone after being in the hospital for a year from a surgery that nearly killed me. Now, being 28 and married I want to have a family and because methodone does can cause problems with pregnancy, I decided that instead of my child going through this pain, I would endure it. I do not know what to do. I can't get into a comfortable position to sleep. During the day, it is a little easier but I have no energy, I feel body aches all day and night. Should I see an herbalists? Are there vitamins that can help with these symptoms?

What helped me against the restless legs at night & being unable to find a comfortable sleeping position was Magnesia........just make sure to dilute it with lots ay water, cause otherwise it will increase the diarhea......

afaik the normal dosis of Magnesium a human body needs is about 300mg, which are usually included in a healthy "normal" diet.

 

But 1) since --afaik---opiates drain the body of Magnesium (so does alcohol!!!) & 2) during pregnancy you need a higher level of Magnesium, anyway 3) During withdrawal you normally cannot keep a healthy diet (first 10 days I could only eat soup---& keep it in my stomach with luck ;-)!) , I think u could use as much as 500-600mg a day------it helps against the cramps!!!!!

Just dilute in in a bottle of Water and take it over the course of the day......e.g. 4 x 150mg.......it will help against the cramps in your legs!

 

Iron & Calcium will also do nicely....in fact all kind of vitamines are good, esp. if pregnant!!!

No ! Why do u call yourself a whimp because you're always quiting detox and can't withstand. I see u have a wrong attitude. Where are you ? Where are you in this story ? Because some of your so called friends came off,and u didn't makes u a whimp ? It's always the same story...if you don't do or are like the normal people (the majority of people is the definition of the world normal) then it makes you a whimp...becasue you're not like a majority of people u feel u are a whimp who cannot make it. I was taking 30-40 mg a day of methadone, yesterday i started at the clinic, i didn't even realize that much cld do such horrible things. Im 20 yrs old, an im scared, i just wanna be normal again. Im afraid im gnna be stuck in the clinic forever, i guess im lookin for someone to talk 2, that understands, anybody?

I have inoperable spinal tumors from a genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis (NF). The pain is hellacious, and for 12 years I was on 60 mg of mehtadone daily, until it stopped working. I was in the hospital for four days in September 2012 to get me on the fentanyl patch with morphine for breakthrough pain which I don't use much. The withdrawal in the hospital was horrible because they did it wrong. But I still got off of it fast, and the body aches,, diaherra (true, I have stomach gastro problems and always have had....) but this won't stop. I'm drinking tons of coconut water for the electrolytes.

That stuff hides out in your body until it realizes no more is coming. The fentanyl and morphine are not as strong as diladid, my former breakthrough pain med. I HATE THE STUFF and always have. I do not crave it. But I'm a mess and it's been three months. I was told it could take six months to a year because of the amount and the amount of time I was taking it.

I'm sorry for all that you suffered, I know although I use dropper ..displaying 10 milgs the bottle contains 55 mils,so each day i take 3 of these 10 mils..the bad thing is each 2 weeks when I RETURN to the clinic my dose is STILL 55,& the COUNSELOR REFUSES to tell me how many MILS they DROP you & WHEN within what time period!! If youre that worried about it, get it over with now! And talk to your family doctor, they can prescribe you things to help. At my highest I was on 135mgs which isn't even considered high at the clinic I go to. Its not uncommon for people to be on and over 200mgs. I started my taper in March I think and Im now down to 8mgs. I went down 1mg every other day and didn't have a problem until I hit 8mgs...then the withdrawals hit me like a brick wall. Within 1-2 weeks of staying at the same dose I fine though. I currently halted my taper bc of the holidays, I just don't want to risk feeling like sh*t and missing out on my family. You should have complete control over your taper, unless you've given them a reason to detox you and get you out. I think Id go above your counseller and ask to speak with a supervisor. I can't see how they can continue to taper you if youre feeling sick. You're going to have withdrawals at the end but it kinda depends on your body and def how strong mentally you are. I've heard of some people only feeling crappy for a few days others a couple of weeks. The better metabolism you have the faster the withdrawal will be. I want off of it so I haven't had much of a problem that way except the desire to use returned a bit more then I was used to. I don't ever want to go through this sh*t again so I just kept ignoring the urges. If they cannot do anything about the taper I think I would go to another clinic. How long have you been on methadone? I've been on it 3 years and 5 months. If the clinic I go to was ruining my chances at success I'd def find another place no matter what I had to go through to get there. We drive 30-40 mins one way to get to the clinic and we have to go 2 times a week. We had to go everyday for like 3-4 months until we had so many clean urines and then it was only 1 take home at a time between every couple of months. So within 2 1/2 years we finally could go once a week. They randomly decided to start testing for THC (argue if you want, Id rather smoke a bowl then take a benzo for my anxiety and anger issues) and my fiance and I had to start all over again....going back to the clinic every day for 6 months since the THC took 3 months to get out of my system. Anyway to get back to your subject, I would not recommend doing you're own detox, you're on methadone b/c you're a drug addict. If you stop at 30 mgs a day I think you're going to be hurting pretty bad and the urge to use would be pretty damn strong. All I've heard sine I've started the program is methadone withdrawal is way worse then any reg opiate withdrawal...which if I would have known that I would have found another way! So yea I'd see another counseller or supervisor, no luck, go to another clinic...still no luck...talk to your family doctor maybe they can get you on Suboxones which is a lot better of a taper. Youd still have some discomfort but it would be easier to come off of. My family doctor recommended this for me but I just want it done and over with and will not be seeking that option as of right now.
