Hello, can you help me with a decision. I am 19 years old and I would like to go for a lasik surgery but I am not sure how old do you have to be for that procedure. I would like to get rid of my myopia and I know that lasik might help; I am just not sure what are the conditions I have to meet.

You have to be an adult, by the law in your country. This means, either 18 or 21 years in most of the cases. And also, you must not have any disorders (like conjunctivitis for example). And also, your eyesight should not have changed for the entire year before the operation. Only then you can do this operation...

Well,
I don’t think that you will have any problems with lasik surgery in your age. I think that they don’t do this in young children but you are almost twenty years old and doctor should be able to perform the surgery in your eyes. However you need to consult your doctor first what needs to be done and if this is the only solution for your vision problem. How long have you been having problems with your eyes? Are you trying to find another treatment for the problem or you are definite in doing the surgery to correct the vision problem? I hope that you will find the best solution for your eyes.
All the best,
Nelie
