What kind of tests have you had?

If anyone has similar symptoms as me (see pictures in the link below) please reply. Main symptoms are a white coated tongue (all over the tongue except the tip) and swollen tastebuds at the border tip of the tongue that are sore sometimes.

Symptoms started about 4 months after receiving unprotected oral sex from a girl of unknown status. I have this tongue problem for over a year now.

Sorry to hear of your dilema. I too have some serious issues with my mouth and the first 2 doctors were not helpful at all. I saw a dermatologist and he made some suggestions and I will follow up with him. I am also going to see the dentist. I would go with an article that describes your symptoms as "proof" that they should test you for this. Any kind of documentation will be helpful to prove that you are not "imagining" this. I hope all goes well.

All, I had the same thing as some of you describe here. White spots on taste buds, things that looked like blisters on the side of my tongue, pain when eating spice or acidic foods. I read some posts that said it was a virus and that it could get better on its own if the body learned to deal with the virus, and so I was hoping for the best. My advice: see an otolaryngologist as soon as possible. I am young, and have not performed oral sex. According to my doctor, most likely this was caused for me by exposure to the Epstein Barr virus (I had mono a number of years ago, so this makes sense). At this point, it has developed into tongue cancer, and has migrated to my neck as well. It is treatable, but with any cancer, it is VERY IMPORTANT to get this looked at as soon as possible by the right doctor, because the treatment is much easier if caught earlier. I was so lucky that the otolaryngologist I saw knew exactly what this was. The longer you wait with this, the more serious it may get.

there are hundreds and hundreds of the HPV strains. One I got at the gym from holding the bars on the tread mill ended up with warts. The HPV that causes cancer is only contracted from sex, vaginal and oral for women, oral for men. HPV is so common with so many strains that my doctor said 70% of the population has them. The skin tags we get is an HPV strain, so there are lots of them. Again, the cancer sexual HPV is only from sex.

Has anybody here figured out what they have?
Since December 2016 after kissing a girl who went on to tell me her ex gave her hpv. I developed a soar throat that night. A week later followed soar bumps on the tip of my tongue then my tongue developed a white coating on it. 2 months later I developed tiny bumps on my soft palate then Xerostomia . I saw an oral pathologist who ran all kinds of blood tests auto immune, vitamin deficiency, HIV, syphilis, HSV1, HSV2, HSV5 Citomegalovirus, oral DNA HPV, viral swab tests coxsackie enturovirus, HSV1, HSV2, Candida Yeast, and bacterial culture tests all came back negative. Saw an E.N.T. who scoped my throat and didn't see anything serious. I was taking steroid oral mouth rinse that the oral pathologist gave me for what he called inflamed papula. Didn't work and my tongue was burning for months throat was soar and my soft palate was painful as well as a dry mouth. In March of 2017. I saw another ear nose throat specialist who scoped me again and he said he saw acid reflux burning my throat. He prescribed Proton pump inhibitors Dexilant 40mg twice daily and a steroid mouth rinse. When I took the PPI I felt relief from the burning tongue almost instantly but I couldn't tolerate the medication so I discontinued use. I went to see a gastroenduroligyst and had an endoscopy done. he found a small hiatel hernia 2cm and a mild case of Gerd but didn't believe my symptoms in my oral cavity were related. I went back to the ENT and he gave me a different PPI NEXIUM. I only felt about a 50% improvement on Nexium but my symptoms were all still there. I went on to see an Oral Medicine specialist who said I had come in contact with Coxsackie enterovirus and she prescribed anti viral medication as well as gabapentine and clorazapam. I saw an infectious desease specialist who told me she doesn't believe I have a viral infection and to focus on my gut. She also stated if it's HPV there is no way of testing for it on the oral cavity you just have to wait for an outbreak.my symptoms are all still here after 10 months and I'm seeing a new GI for a second opinion.

My symptoms are similar to yours. They came on very sudden after kissing a stranger goodnight on December 2016. White coated tongue, inflamed papulia on front tip of tongue that has shrunk and cracked leaving me with a dry raw tongue. My throat is red and soar, my cheeks are inflamed and look grayish white. I have seen 2 oral Pathologist, who ran all kinds of blood tests, viral and bacterial swab tests and 2 lip biopsy for Sjorjens all came back negative but show mild inflammation of salivary gland cell and they believe its Anxiety. 5 ENT's, only one of them saw what he believes is acid reflux. and referred me to a gastroenterologist an Oral Medicine Specialist who specializes in diseases of the mout. Dr. Mariam Grushka who believes it's Burning Mouth Syndrome.
The gastroenduroligyst performed a gastroscopy found a 2cm hiatel hernia, a lax sphincter and a mild case of Gerd. a ph test that showed severe reflux with swallowing motility issues. I'm now being referred to a thoracic surgeon.

I have been experiencing the same issues. They seemed to appear in January 2018 following flu/bronchitis in December and entire family having Flu Type A in January. In 2012 I had the diagnosis of HPV after a biopsy. I was told it could possibly go away on its own. I have had a child since, and I have been told the problem may go away with childbirth. I have had clean paps and bloodworm since 2013. I also had chicken pox and mono when I was young. The last two months I have experienced an extreme discomfort in my throat, ranging from sore to just thick feeling. If I try I may be able to spit out a tiny bit of white mucus- pretty normal stuff. My throat issue alternates with a sore/swollen tongue with inflamed tastebuds and the white marks down the sides. I have lost some weight due to not being able to eat despite being hungry. Drinking lots of water does seem to help- I have wondered lately if I am dehydrated. I have had a full lab panel with clear results. According to the Dr, my kidneys, liver, thyroid, hormones are all perfect. No high or low WBC count. No sign of systemic infection. Over these last two months I have tried taking two fluconazole, and a week of acyclovir twice daily just to see what happens. The result was- my sore throat disappeared, but the thick feeling is still there. I feel somewhat better some days and some days I don't. I have almost convinced myself that I poisoned myself with the coffee maker I have been using. The coffee brews into a plastic holding tank with a gasket and metal warning plate. The coffee sits in there for 2-4hours keeping warm. Every cup tasted sour to me about the same time this problem began. I haven't used the maker in almost 3 weeks- about the time my symptoms began lessening. I still drink coffee from Starbucks and using a pour over device. I tried a cup of coffee from my maker last week just to see what happened. My tongue immediately felt that plastic-like coat and started the whole numb mouth/tongue/lips again. Still not as well as I was before this one drink of coffee. So do I have a serious health condition, or am I being poisoned by my coffee maker? Or could the coffee maker be magnifying a larger problem?
