Judgement and using the word "denial" doesn't help. You may not even be an alcoholic. I consider some of these answers to be gaslighting you.

i dont know who you are ..but you exactly described what i've been going through ..i'm a 36 year old male and to be honest i did start drinking when i turned 18 and since then its been a on and off this as in the original post i dont crave alcohol nor do i make plan for it, but just that even 2-3 small drinks are enough for me to wake up in my house with no recollcetion of what happned afterwards (perfectly described in the original post "from being tipsy, to waking up the next morning wondering what happened.") ..initially it started with something like 1 in 20 times but now it just happens anytime ..i dont drink and the only time i do its at a friends get to gather or office parties and even then im scared of this situation..earlier i used to ask my friends if i did anything stupid cus i dont remember nothing but they tell me i was normal even dropped some of them after the party, ate, danced no bumps or dents on my car perfectly parked ...so as per my understanding it triggers a split personality who gets me home safely but now when you said "you can shop, take a bus or do other normal things without others knowing about my blackout" ..i realized this is exactly what i've been dealing with ..i dont know its of any help but i thought i should share

People who suffer memory loss don't always do so because they drink more than others - certain brains are just prone to losing memories when under the influence, according to a new study using MRI brain scanners.

The blackouts are terrifying and shameful. I feel shameful but I know I'm not doing anything wrong. I've intentionally cut back to see if it helps, and it doesn't. One or two drinks is all it takes.
