I’ve been diagnosed with sarcoidosis 4 years ago – it was discovered almost by accident when I took an x-ray chest scan because my physician thought I had pneumonia, at the time. I’ve been put on steroids and was taking them for three years. Since I’ve been on them for that long my rheumatologist started to wean me off, so that I could try a treatment with immune suppressant Cytoxin. The problems I’m having now are making visit ER almost weekly because I get very high fevers. My next appointment with rheumatologist is next month so any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated. I’m aware that immune-suppressant medication is making me prone to infections, but on cytoxin I’m basically sick all the time.
