There are two types of brown goo.
Brown discharge can mean your period will be within the next year or so, but not every girl has brown discharge.
Brown bloody stuff can mean your period is starting. Not every girl's period starts brown.
It could, but when you start your periods they can be really irregular! I was there with my friend when she started; she still isn't regularily every month but that's normal - don't expect it on the dot, but see your doctor if it's been a few months.
