%-) how long before you can return to work? how painful is this surgery?
Are there other options other than surgery for bunions?

Foot surgery usually has a longer recovery time than other surgeries only because you have to walk on your feet to get around. I can tell you from experience from family members getting the surgery that it's not terribly painful, and returning to work depends on what you do for work! You can avoid surgery by using treatment to help keep your feet from hurting but it's all preventative care, not necessarily a treatment or a cure. I hope that this helps! Keep us posted on how you're doing okay? How long have you suffered from bunions anyway?

Hello, i had an Austin Bunion Operation 10 days ago, i was terrified, but really it wasnt painful like i thought, it felt heavy and numb. The pain injections i had whilst in surgery lasted from 5pm to 10am next morning, then it just felt uncomfortable, and tingly take your pain meds, i took them for 2 days as told. Then swiched to over the counter meds as they tend to space you out. I stayed in bed for 4 days resting with my foot up and put ice packs on and under my ankle for the swelling, that took the tingling and tightness away. To be honest the worst part for me was having others doing things for me. I was able to walk on my heel with my special shoe after that, but be careful not to do too much, its hard because you feel ok in yourself. It will throb and sting if you do and will have to rest even more, its just boring.

Had stitches out after a week, that was very stingy! now got dressing on and will be bathing it today and replacing dressing. Make sure you have lots to watch and read, lots of fruit near so you wont be hungry, sometimes you dont want to much to eat as your not doing anything to make make you that hungry. Have to go back in 5 weeks for exercises and to try on a regular shoe.

I hope this has helped, also keep your friends handy they will save your sanity! :-D
