hi guys, i amongst others am struggling to put on weight, i have been diagnosed with thyroid disorder these are my details:
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Weight - 9st 1lb - 57.7kg
Height - 5' 9.3" - 1.76m
BMI 18.6 (less than 20 is underweight)
i need to put on about 3 stone at least
im getting very self concious about this and im quitting smoking as well it ain helping

Is it REALLY hard for you to gain weight—no matter what you eat?! Do people make RUDE comments about how thin you are? Do your friends make FUN of you for being so skinny? Is there a medical reason, like a thyroid disorder or anemia, that makes it DIFFICULT for you to put on pounds?

That is c**p where saying you can only gain 2 or 3kg out of our strictly-imposed weight region. When I started lifting heavy compound weights and consistantly eating more and more I went from 125lbs to 190lbs over a period of 5 years . I am 5 10. Started all of this when i was 20. Before then It seemed like i could never gain a pound. Its important to never miss a meal and gain quality muscle through consistant heavy weight lifting and getting in more healthy calories than you expend. Unless you hace a true health problem this will work. I am a trainer have helped many thin people achieve what they thought was impossilble.

That is a refreshing question i must say i am taller and slimmer than you claim to be, and still have difficult stubborn areas! I am 5ft 7inc weighing 9st 0inc, i have a nice size C boob cup with a 32 back. I know how too put weight on and off fast its a sort of trick ive learnt through nearly five years of this yo-yo c**p! your at a lovely height and a decent weight so you have too find the places where when you lose weight where does it go off first? okay say with me, its my waist and bum i lose weight and my chest and thighs balance out later on once the weight has decreased. You may drink more fluids like water which flushes food out alot faster than intended as it doesnt finish its digestive cycle. Supplement shakes and muscle building drinks wont be any good here as its a liquid and if your not exercising your body mass wont balance out correctly! You need to increase the meal s a day you have too three, though instead of fruit have porridge of cheese on toast as opposed to toast without butter! Have full meals with potatos and veg chicken and steaks drink orange juice you dont need to increase your junk food intoake as it will only make you feel sick and give you an overall greasy look! if you stick to this help i promise you the weight will pop back on be careful what you listen to though of course you have to learn what does and doesnt work for yourself by yourself as everyone is different i hope you get the results you want soon! Hi I am back again,Iam 34 years old and look and feel like a skeloton.Iam 5 foot and weigh about 108 lbs.Idon't look that amount of weight Ilook smaller.Ihad blood work,ultrasound,nothing shows up.The doc told me he was soon going to throw the book at me.Iam desperate,Ilost my bum,thighs and breast and stomache no shape at all.Periactin did help I once was 126lbs.the doctors took me off and I lost it all.Someone out there have a solution?

im skinny tooooooo! Nice skinny is good. Not anorexia. I do sport and all that stuff and eat bad food a lot 2 but never get fat. I just live with it and live with everyone telling me im skinny.

I understand how you feel I might not be as small as you in weight but I look like a skeloton at least I think so and I hate it.I had the pill called periactin the generic brand is called cyprohepdadine It did work I put on 26 lbs off of them.The doctor took me off and said to try on my own but then I lost it all.I would like to get them back.Go to your doctor and see what happens.Hope all goes well. burgeo

My advice as a Ectomorph myself is simply eat a hour before you go sleep normaly a pack of cream custard or biscuites betwen 5-10.

if you want to put on weight it is a lot easy than you think but i will take about a year the problem with you all you all trying to put on weight quick and that doest work just take yout time eat at leats 500 cal extra a day for a month then up 150 cal a day each month after that youll will find you would of put on about 15 pounds you can use a high cal protein shake each serve is 600 cal have that once a day and then up your intake . or just eat more. i use to weigh nothing aswel tried and tried but olny did it for a month or two nothing just stick to it and then you can all stop complaining about your weight

i agree with you, I'm 6'1 and just inmarch, i was really sick in weighed 134, i was deathly skinny, but when i got better, in april, i started doing push ups EVERYDAY, lifting weights, going to the gym, and eating more, and sleeping more, and now im 152-155(7). i jus recently got in the 50's range at the end of the summer, im still slim but i look MUCH better, and plus i look cut and can actually walk around in public with a wife beater (on my good days). it does take time though and alot of effort, and SLEEPING is the key. you can go real far with SLEEP, people tend to "sleep" on the importance of sleeping.
PS trust me, for all you skinny people out there, trust me, it's better to be thin than to ever be fat, trust me, be thankful you have underweight problems instead of overweight problems, at least being underweight isnt AS detrimental to your life.
