I grew up as the "skinniest kid on the block". Every single day at school was torture, as I was bullied relentlessly. I have also suffered with low weight.
First, please have a doctor exclude underlying conditions.Also seek out a nutritionist..this saved my life ( i'm an athlete and was deteriorating.
A last option is a medication called magestrol...this is usually given to chronic patients to stimulate apatite .
I had great success with this ..it is only for temporary use. I now focus on diet...and while I'm only 110 lbs ..its a healthy 110 and comes full of energy.

you just said every thing I have gone through over the past 20 years. I am 30 female, weight band of 41 - 44, 5'7 height 45 on christmas. I eat 3 full meals, a midnight or late night meal, and munch on crisps, yoghurt and ice cream in between. I too take a multivitamin and a seven seas (alternating each day) every night. This too after I tried the binge eating 5 large meals and snacking throughout the day and managed after 5 months to get to 48kgs but the moment i ended up with abdominal pains and was told to stop eating the way I did, I lost it overnight. Literally in two/three days went back down to 42kgs. I've been 41 now for a while, and eat just like anybody else with snacks in between. I went on a mcdonalds three times a day diet and it got me no where too. Just decided to give it up. It sucks not allowed into adult movies having to show ID and then being double checked and sometimes not allowed in for false ID, and it also sucks that my waist is 23 and I need long pants. My jeans are always shorter or if they're the right length, they're huge. Best part, no belt fits my waist line without me putting another hole through to make it fit. I gave up on weight gain a year ago, and now sit quietly altering clothes and laughing at people's stupid comments. I am not spending my money on doctors and medicines, and weight gain shakes to get no where. Thanks for telling me about the muscle thing. This would explain why I cant' even build muscle. Being my weight I cant really carry too much weight either. Go figure. You're right, its a blessing in disguise and we should just live with it without complaining the world has bigger problems.

hang in there gal. I am 32 5'7 and 96lbs. ignore the fools who make fun of you. Where I am now, all those fools who make fun of you, well you'll meet them later on in life, really over weight and not looking so good well over weight, and they'd say to you, Oh my, how did you manage to stay the same since elementary ha ha. It happened to me so many times, I now find it funny.

As others mention first of all you need to consult your doctor and nutritionist to find out if there is not any serious problem that is stopping you from gaining weight. Then you need to know about healthy diet according to your body's requirement. Exercise can also help in this regard.
