I was a smoker for over 10 years. When i finally put them down, i noticed it was very hard to tollerate the smell. Now, 10 years later, if i am near someone smoking, the smell will stick with me for days (in my nose). Sometimes, even after a week has passed, i will experience the "phantom" smell. It normally dissapears after a week or so. I avoid smokers at all costs. A good experiment would be to ask a friend to smoke a menthal cigerrette around you, taking notice to the effects. Next week try it again, this time with a regular ciggerette. I have noticed that menthal ones do not bother me. This may suggest that, in fact, being around smoke (even in small, un-noticable amounts) causes a physical reaction. so, this problem may not be a sickness or condition.

I am having the same problem. I am smelling a burning smell. It reminds me of some type of wood burning. It started about 3 - 4 weeks ago. I have sinus problems all the time. So I think I will focus on this. I have read all the different post. What ever new info is out there let me know. Thanks   Mark

Also suffering from ringing ears. That has been going on for 3 years.

I don't know why I used to smell cigarette smoke all the time in places where no one was or had been smoking. Someone posted that maybe we should check the level of something in the air in our homes, but it happened in many different locations. It finally has stopped. I'm so glad I don't smell cigarette smoke all the time now. Maybe it did have something to do with a sinus problem even though I never really suffered from sinus. Hope you find out real soon what is causing it.

The only thing different in my life is I started using a powder called Caldesene, breath a lot by applying it, and at work there are smoke shakes that filter in a lot of smoke from smokers in the summer do to the doors being open, I don't remember this happening in the winter, so it could the smoke shakes, just curious if any one ele's  uses the Caldesene powder  and have experienced the smoke smell.

I have the same problem. At first I thought it was my mum's ghost, because she used to smoke all the time! I smell it everywhere now, but it 's more like burning fat than cigarett smoke these days. I'm also very congested. All this has happened since I had pneumonia earlier this year. I wonder if there's a connection?

I too, just a month ago started smelling cigarette smoke evn though no one in my house smokes. I started working one by one to find the source of the problem. First I thought it might be due to dust allergens. I cleaned my house extra by dusting and vacuuming.  I had the ventilation filters changed, but still smelled cigarette smoke. I aired out the house, but problem persisted. I provided temporary relief by putting Vick's vapor rub under my nose so I can sleep better at night. My next step is to see my doctor to see if my blood is carrying enough oxygen, which I'm beginning to suspect may be the problem.

I recently quit smoking. I started smelling smoke shortly after. First it started with Whifs of burnt paper smell. Now it regularly smells like something is burning in an oven. It is hard to breathe and sometimes I wake up from my sleep because of it. My voice even closes up. But if I breathe through my mouth or through cupped hands or spray deodorizer then I'm OK. Weird and very annoying and worrisome.

Unbeliveable, I just started having the same problem about a month ago, but it is just in my house in my family room and kitchen and no one in my house smokes and no one else smells it. It could have something to do with my pets, zink supplements I take or maybe I am not taking in enough 02. It could be mold. I had my deviated septum aligned a year ago, perhaps this could be it. May some of you have similar theories. I am not sure what it could be, I am just  glad it does not occur all the time.

I have this problem also without the nausea. I have read that this can be as simple as an allergy or a serious issue such as seizures, stroke or brain tumor. The article I read suggested going to a neurologist and/or ENT and that CT scan is sometimes recommended.
