I have missed my period since February. I went to my GYN 5 days ago and during the pelvic exam, he told me that my cervix was turning blue and my uterus was soft. He also asked me if I had noticed any bleeding during/after intercourse. Since this had occurred on once occasion, I told him so. He told me that all of these symptoms pinpointed pregnancy, although he commented that if I was pregnant, he did not think that I was as far along as I thought I was (based on my last menstrual cycle). He did a blood test and told me to call back for the results.

I was completely devastated to learn that the results of the test were negative! I can accept not being pregnant, but after he told me that all of the symptoms could not be related to anything other than pregnancy, I certainly had my hopes up. Since learning of the results, I have found out about two women who were told the same thing, but were, indeed, pregnant. My doctor wants to put me on a medication that will start my period, but I'm afraid to take it, for fear that the blood test was wrong and I am really pregnant.

Has anyone known of a blood test being wrong because it was too early in the pregnancy for accurate results?

Thanks for any help I can get!

Do not take those drugs! I wouldnt even take them even if you knew for sure you werent pregnant. Drs. make a LOT of mistakes, do not let them make one that could potentionally harm both your unborn baby and you as well. Why would you want your period anyway LOL? The only reason is to be sure your not pregnant, but honestly waiting is better for your body than taking meds. You DO NOT always have to listen to your Dr. All they know are drugs, and dont always know whats really best for you. Pregnancy tests are pretty accurate, but not 100%. Therefore mistakes can be made. They measure an amount of chemical that you release when you become pregnant. However at first not everyone may release enough to show up positive on the test. Wait it out. Watch out for pregnancy symptoms. I dont know how long you should wait...maybe a couple weeks, maybe a month, take another pregnancy test. If it still is negative, but you still havent had your period or are have pregnacy symptoms then have a ultrasound to prove for sure if you are pregnant or not.

there are 2 types of blood test one is a positive negative blood test and the other counts how much hcg you have in your system. the first one i mentioned is about as accurate as a pee test so i suggest you see which one he did before you take the pill.
