For people looking to firm and tone their butts, there are some exercises that are more effective than others in targeting the muscles of the butt. I believe that the squat is the best exercise you can do for your butt. The squat is the single most effective exercise nothing else even comes close in terms of effectiveness. Ok lunges are the next best thing for your butt and thighs.

According to American Council on Exercises (ACE), Quadruped Hip Extensions along with Squats, Lunges, Step-ups and One Legged Squats were the most effective exercises for toning the glutes.
