Hi, I think your be fine seeing as you was on your period as you wasn't at a fertile point, it more likely down to stress I would say :-)
The tampon would have acted as a barrier against the sperm entering into and getting into your cervix, plus when you have your period it means your egg has been shed thus you don't have another one right away - meaning you are NOT PREGNANT.

Yes, positive you are not pregnant. The stress can give you cramps before your period actually begins, if it is this bad use a heating pad or hot water bottle against your ab area to naturally relieve your cramps. Hope this helps
