Hello, folks. I have been experiencing blurred vision lately. I have decided to visit my ophthalmologist. After examination, I was told I have astigmatism. I will probably have to wear lenses or glasses. I would like to know something more about astigmatism since my doctor didn’t explain too much. Thanks in advance.

Hi, there. Astigmatism is a mild condition of the eye. It is a treatable imperfection of eye’s curvature. It can affect either lens or cornea. That is why there is corneal and lenticular astigmatism. Since this surface is not smooth, refraction of the light is irregular. Astigmatism is usually present at birth. It can be corrected with corrective lenses or eyeglasses. I hope this helps. Bye!
