I'm 19 and had my tonsils removed five days ago. The pain is incomparable to anything I could have expected. My throat feels like it is the size of a straw and I can't swallow without feeling a lump. Originally because of so much pain I wasn't drinking too much more than what it took to swallow my medicine. A few times I used a fruit smoothie and yogurt and these dairy based drinks led to mucus production which would irritate and sometimes clog my throat causing painful coughing. Now the back of my throat is dry and scratchy even seconds after drinking, I upped my liquid intake a lot today but there's been no relief. Is this what the scabs that form are supposed to feel like or is something wrong?
