Hello,

This seems to have started when I had an abscessed molar pulled over a year ago. (upper left)  At first it was just my left cheek which I bit but today and yesterday I inadvertently bit the interior bottom tissie in the front of my mouth.

This strange  behavior happens like lightning striking and usually when I am eating.   Today's bite drew blood.  Let me stress, I seem to have no control over this strange behavior.

Any ideas on cause and how to remedy?

Hello Dee,

Sounds like you have a nervous habit.  I'm sure bitting the inside of your mouth can really smart.  I really don't think there is any drug you can take that will cure that problem.  This calls for some serious behavorial modification.  This sounds like it could be a little difficult because you say it happens quickly.  Obviously, eating something is one trigger and perhaps some form of nervousness or anxiety might be the other trigger.  To start with, you might want to work with the eating trigger because that you are aware of.  Make a concentrated effort not to bite.  Tell yourself that you are not going to bite.  Keep saying it aloud and in your minds ear.  Do this everyday for about a week and see if you don't stop biting.  Let me know how that goes and then we'll try the second part.
