i started a combined pill last month and would be expecting my period at the end of this week. however, about a week ago i started spotting. i knew this was normal and had unprotected sex. i bled during sex and have been bleeding since (6 days). The bleeding is quite heavy now - not as heavy as a normal period though. It tends to be dark witha clear discharge but is sometimes light, almost pink. AM I PREGANT? is it worth CONTACTING MY DOCTOR? can i have UNPROTECTED SEX? PLEASE HELP, this is a real pain and every other post on here seems to be complaining of a lighter bleeding that doesn't last as long...
THANK YOU!

Breakthrough bleeding is very common in the first 3 or so months after starting a birth control pill. If you were on the pill for more than 14 days before the unprotected sex, I think you are fine. (I've read 7 days before, but I have also heard 14). Bleeding associated with pregnancy is usually due to implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding is actually more of implantation spotting. Most women who experience it (and the majority of pregnant women don't) describe it as light light pink spotting, usually not enough to even get on their panties.
If you need to calm your nerves, take a pregnancy test (First response tells you as soon as 5 days before your missed period). However, if you were taking the pills as directed, you should be fine! Bleeding is normal in the beginning! Best of luck
