Monkeysmamma - a long period can a side effect of the shot - I had that happen to me the first time I ever had a shot (and at that time there was no chance of me being pregnant) - If you are pregnant, that's different, but the delayed and longer periods can definitely come from the shot itself.
Cortisone shots do NOT "deliver natural cortisol"! They are a man made steroid drug made to ACT like cortisol in our bodies. The drug reduces inflammation and can affect our immune systems and have a full list of side effects. According to some sites as of today, January 7, 2016 it's a pregnancy category D in the first trimester!! Not good. I, too, suffer with lower back pain from inflamed facet joints at my l5-s1 and no disc (it's flat) at same joint. I'd be in my two week wait or about a week after ovulation when I was supposed to go for cortisone injections. I'm glad I did my research. I don't want to risk baby not implanting, miscarriage, or cleft palate on my baby. I may wait until my period starts or wait in general/indefinitely, depending on what my doctor advises. Vicodin has been found more safe in pregnancy, if truly needing higher pain relief. As a chronic pain patient I also know ice and heat as well as relaxation therapy goes Very far! Good luck to all of you!

I'm in the same situation. I'm 34 and trying for my first baby. I had ACDF surgery on c5/6 last year and now I have a bulging disc at C4/5. I feel like my life is on hold.
