Hi, guest.
A small, painless lump in the genital area can have various causes, and it's not necessarily indicative of cancer. In fact, cancer is relatively rare in young individuals. There are several potential explanations for a lump in the outer labia, including:
-
Cyst: It's possible that you have a cyst, which is a fluid-filled sac that can form beneath the skin. These can occur for various reasons and are usually benign.
-
Ingrown Hair: An ingrown hair can cause a small, painful bump. These occur when a hair curls back into the skin instead of growing outward.
-
Blocked Sweat Gland: Sweat glands in the genital area can become blocked, leading to the formation of a small lump.
-
Infection: Infections, such as a pimple or abscess, can cause painful lumps. However, you mentioned no drainage, which is less typical for an infection.
-
Sebaceous Cyst: These are cysts that can develop from blocked sebaceous (oil) glands. They are usually harmless and painless but can become uncomfortable if they grow.
Since the lump hurts when you mess with it, it's essential to avoid squeezing or trying to pop it, as this can lead to infection or other complications. Instead, you should make an appointment with a a gynecologist or your primary care physician, to have it examined.
Let us know how it went.
