I am desperate for some pain relief. I did NOT know nor was I informed about the discomfort I would have after lithotripsy and Stent placement. What in the world was I thinking when I decided to have this done!! The pain is severe I have literally been on my couch for 7 days, pain seems to worsen at times but pretty much constant. Urinating is a nightmare that keeps returning every 15 to 30 mins. I have my Stent removed in 4 days and I have read that it's pretty bad also. I'm really to the point that I am mentally tired, I have a life but it's not living on the couch not being able to do anything for pain relief. Dr perscribed Norco 5/325 which is a slap in the face...they do nothing to relieve this pain. My vagina feels like I am trying to push a baby out, abdomen, back and right side pain in leg all the way to foot. Please tell me what works I called Dr he perscribed meds I got the oxybutnin but couldn't afford the other one, and can't remember the name it's for ureter pain spasms. Help!! I also can't take nsaids. Is there any home remedies that work to help relieve these symptoms, I'm desperate and frankly so is my husband he has had to do everything.

I've experienced the same nightmare pain as all of you. My stent has been in for almost six weeks. I too sit/lay on the couch. I can't go grocery shopping or take long in the shower because if I stand to long it really hurts. I sometimes wake up and feel like it's going to be a good day...but...a few hours later I'm crying like a baby in agony. Last night was one of the worse nights ever...I didn't know what to do so all I did was cry in pain it's so frustrating! I find a little comfort laying on my stomach and sometimes taking a bath. I'm on flomax for the spasm and have other pain meds as well. They do take the edge off for about half of the day and then the pain it just comes back. Im hoping to have the stent removed next week and hopefully my ureter is completely healed because if it isn't I was told I would have to need another nephrostomy tube ( no fun either) and another stent placement. I wish all of you a fast recovery. It was nice to vent to others that actually are going through the same pain and are familiar with the stent.

By the way, when my two stents came out, I have already had several cystocopies. The insertion of the instrument is routine, and pulling the stents was quick and I only felt a short pinch on each side. The relief was instant and I drove home as a new man.

I have been reading all of your posts while trying to fond info for a family member who has kidney stents and is suffering from them. I hope all of you have a full recovery and feel better soon. From my own personal experience: about a year ago I was diagnosed with gallstones and the doctor recommended that I have my gallbladder removed. This did not seem the best solution to me as I was worried that if I no longer had a gallbladder I wpuld become prone to having kidney stones. Through my research I learned there are gallbladder and kidney stone flushes available. Although I was skeptical of them, I was even more skeptical of having surgery. I ended up having a few sessions of colon hydrotherapy ( colonic) and that did the trick! Turns out I was severely constipated, and the constipation had caused the gallbladder symptoms. Now I stay away from popcorn peanuts corn etc. take a good probiotic and have not had a problem since. This alternatives may not be for everyone...but they worked great in my case!

I had 2 stones removed 4 days ago. One was 5mm and the other one was 4mm. I had a stent put in that I could take out myself in 3 days.

After surgery and into the next day I had nausea which maybe was from the pain mess or anesthesia. Overall the days before removing the stent sucked and it typically hurt to urinate I think I stayed positive thinking it will be better. I peeded blood each time with the stent.

On Friday morning when I could take my stent out myself I had discomfort when removing it but I wouldn't say painful. I went to work and within the hour I had a groin pain at about an 8 out of 10. I contemplated going to the ER. I felt like I needed to pee every second.

Later in the day I felt somewhat better. My suggestion is that if you feel you have to pee, but know you really don't have to, try to tough it out. I put an ice pack on my groin and back to try and diminish the pain and need to pee. Between 6pm and 11pm I never had much of a need to urinate and I didn't. I was busy doing things during that time which I think helped keep my mind off it. After I got home though I had to pee and my groin and back pain returned. I took some mess and iced and made it through the night.

Felt good the next morning but pain again after peeing. So I'm only 4 days out with some slight improvement. Hope it gets better.

Hi Guys, i had plenty of stents, i had no discomfort with the "long term" stents however the normal stents gives me excruciating pain. i feel the stent poking my bladder when i move, when i urinate i get the urge to push like im giving birth. its so bad!! also i have recurring stones, every 2 months my kidneys are fillled with stents, must have had 20 procedures since November 2015. does anyone suffer from recurring stones? i am on antibiotics permanently. Dr's are struggling to get to the root of my problem. im based in South africa so BTW

I had the same procedure for a very large stone 13mm which my urologist tried to lasor a month ago. Apparently she couldn't get to the stone and it is still there.
I found I had a lot of bleeding and pain the first week after the
procedure and loss of bladder control . Also a severe cramping pain in The left kidney after emptying my bladder.
For at least the first 3 weeks post surgery, now I just feel lots of discomfort , I am so aware that the stent is there . I am tired and drained. I truely feel worse now than pre procedure. May also be facing another lasor procedure to get rid of the stone . I hope there's an end to this !
