My mother was on amphetamines when I was a child.  She was prescribed them by a doctor to lose weight.  I was too young to know there were more than one type so no idea what one's she was taking.  So my question is the following:  Is Speed the same thing as all types of amphetamines or is the slang term only for a certain type of amphetamine?
