A friend of mine told me that there was a direct link between cadence and fitness. I didn’t know anything so I promised to look up for any useful information. I was unable to find anything so I would be grateful if anyone can tell me something about it. Thanks.

Well there isn’t any direct connection between cadence and fitness. Not that I know of. The only link that there might be is that if you pedal or run faster (higher cadence) you will burn more calories. But you won’t be able to sustain that pace for a long time and you would have to slow down or even stop. Then you will not burn any calories. So even that is disputable. The only real benefit you may get is if you are doing high intensity intervals which are very good for gaining speed, stamina and burning fat.
