I have lived nine years without a pancreas, spleen, duodenum, part of my small intestine, gallbladder, many liver bile ducts, 1/2 stomach, uterus, ovaries and appendix. The entire pancreas was removed (not a Whipple) it is a total. Yes, I am diabetic and I'm on an insulin pump and a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) I was not diabetic prior to my surgery. I take enzymes with all meals and I take many supplements because of the missing duodenum. I had a mucinous cyst on my pancreas that was pre-malignant and I have lost eight family members due to pancreatic cancer. There are many support groups you can find by googling. Please contact me if I can be of any assistance. I have had several hospitalizations but manage to pull through and learn a great deal through the experience. I am happy to share.

Keep the faith. Excercise regularly no matter your mental state or health and use moderation. We all must die physically but we can have life in the flesh and spirit in Christ. I should have died almost 20/years ago wont go into details and every year brings on new pain anf challenges but with evey challenge a new solution comes from the Lord and I live and enjoy life more than healthy people mentally and physically my age in out 60s.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I keep the faith. Additionally, I was an international inspirational speaker for 20 years before becoming ill. I received a great opportunity to test my own techniques. Every day is truly a gift.

Greetings from St Louis. My now 30 year old daughter is living without her pancreas for almost 5 years. There are now 24 centers in the US that do the Total Pancreatectomy Auto Islet Transplant. Ellie's remaining healthy islets were placed in her liver and after 3 months she no longer needed insulin. The U.K., Australia are also doing this surgery. University of Minhesota has been doing this surgery since 1977. The youngest child I'm aware of is a three year old boy and he's doing fine, many children have had the surgery. Genetics plays a big part for many, and others there is no cause for their CP. we have a very active FB group that has supported many.

Hello my name is Kimberly Bennett I'm 50 saturday March 11. In early 2004 I had a test done to view my pancreas due to a scan showing a cyst on it. They said they had to use dye to get a better view, this was the beginning of the ultimate mistake of a lifetime. This was the 2nd bout of pancreatitis in my life. The whipple was done on august 25,2004. Half my pancreas was removed. I immediately was diabetic and had to take synthetic enzymes to digest good. Soon after followed digestive disease and malabsorption. It was and still is extremely rough
Every day is a battle. I'm 2008 at osu some internal tests were run because of my sugar being out of control diabetes. The diareah, the inability to, which still is a major problem, digest food even with pills my body can't break the food down. Intense pain, constant nausea, vommitting. Life is very hard. In 2008 the Drs were stunned with the results. He came out of the room in disbelief. Somehow my body they think must have absorbed the rest of my pancreas. I have no pancreas no gall bladder, removal of part of my intestines, and my bile duct transplanted ( it's mine but been relocated. It's 2017 and I'm still alive. I thought I was the only one till I found your article. Thank you I've felt so alone with the medical community saying the majority of partial removal make it less than 6 months and I shouldn't be here I can't survive
I get blood work done A LOT I can't eat red meat or fatty meats no fried food but I am not just breathing I'm alive. There is hope, but I too would like to know how many there are of us alive with no pancreas I'm curious and hopeful
