is trouble accepting gays caused by human instinct to reproduce?

I myself am Gay and that's ok, at least in my understanding . But generally speaking Gays aren't usually accepted. Is this because human instinct is to reproduce? And in order to birth the next generation a member of the opposite sex is needed. But Gays don't follow natures rule book and are therefore considered "Not normal". One word, "LOVE". How come many people can love a person of the other sex but when it comes to love between two males it is rejected, unheard-of and hated? So my question is whether or not Gays are or should be accepted by society.G
