First of all, it is not a craze. It has been scientifically proved that cold muscle cannot perform near its full capability. Therefore, starting some strenuous activity without warming up is asking for trouble. Your chances of getting injured this way are 5-10 times greater. Dont forget that the most important muscle in your body is your heart. And it needs a proper warm up. People with weak hearts have significant chances of getting cardiac arrest if starting too quick and without warm up. The best way to warm up is to start with stretching your muscles, head to toe. After that, a 10-20 squats are in order. Mild running at slowest pace for a half a mile would prove wise. Then with your muscles warmed up and your heart beat elevated to the desired level you can start running.
