Perhaps you got more sunlight on your vacation. Have you considered it might be caused by a vitamin D deficiency?

I have had problems on and off for years like this. One time when it happened I thought my wife (only sex partner ever for 15 years) had given me something. Went to the doctor, I shave all of that area down there, he said why do you shave it? I said because my wife like it that way. He was reply was don't shave it, it's probably razer burn it jock itch and wrote a script for a cream. He admitted he didn't know what it was but it wasn't a STD. I had shaven there for 5 years ever since I got the V. My word of advice if you do shave use a ladies leg razor. I also shave my face with that and have since never had really any razor burn after the switch. Before that just about every other time. Anyway I had the same symtoms as the sticky, smelly, raw skin underneath, uncomfortable to move...it felt like someone used 30 grit sand paper on the area between my sack and interthigh and sometimes on to my shaft and then put corn syrup on it. I didn't use the cream at all. I kept shaving and used only bar soap and scrubbed the hell out of it with a wash cloth. It went way couple days later. I have had it on and off over the last 5 years and come to a few conclusions about what makes it happen. First is shave, if I don't it takes longer to go away, like I said before ladies razor and if you don't know this before you shave an area that hasn't been shaved before don't keep going over and over it, that will give you razor burn. Trim it first then take your time shaving it down over 2-3 days. Second after you have sex or use lube of any kind, get it off of the right after. Use bar soap like dove or the other one mentioned here. For me we hardly ever need to use lube and believe it or not I don't service myself. For me it's when she is at certain times of the month that will set it off. Again wash cloth and bar soap right after, don't got to sleep with it on there or just wiping it off. She has had yeast or a bacterial infection at times with no symptoms, which may or may not be the real cause, but I tend to think not. Last keep it shaven she will be more inclined to... What I have seen work bar soap, coconut oil (which is anti-fungal along with several other good skin uses), black walnut tincture (antifungal), seriously scrubbing it with a washcloth, keeping it dry by going commando or cotton boxer briefs ( I had better luck with briefs because I would tuck part of them between sack and thigh when on my side and keep the skin from touching together.) I have been able to get rid of it within 2-3 days. Like some of the others have said, food or what your cooking it in my be and issues for you as well. The biggie is clean all of it off after your done!!

COMPLETE CURE:  Use H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) twice a day until gone.  It will burn a bit at first but it is nothing compared to the pain you experience when scratching all day.  Gotta love the brown bottle.  Seriously, it will cure it completely.  Continue to use twice a day for a week after the itch stops.  And start rinsing your pubic area after sex.  Women often have various infections without ever knowing it.

I am not a medical expert but it could very well be something as simple as intertrigo. This happens often in areas called skin folds (under womens breasts, fat folds, groin, etc) its similar to a yeast infection of sorts. the area will be bright red and inflamed, and the surface of the skin might be slimy and somewhat shiny in appearance (on a smooth skinned area anyway) poor hygiene can contribute to this problem. google intertrigo and there are many sites that will tell you treatment and prevention methods to get rid of this very common inflamation problem. hopefully this helps

I find that wet wipes or even bettr hand sanstizer works great for a short term. However the itch returns when I sweat.

Guys, I had this exact problem and diagnosed myself with a yeast infection.  Men get them, too!  My dermatologist diagnosed contact dermatitis.  Nope!  My internist doubted it was yeast, but I convinced him to prescribe a short course of Diflucan.  Within two days it started to clear up!  Since then, at the first sign of a flare-up,  I start applying -- wait for it -- vaginal yeast infection cream, which is over-the-counter.  It sooths the area and stops the itching in its tracks.  Some causes of yeast infections in men are antibiotics (which mess up the balance of your system) and steroids (creams, ointments, pills) which can weaken your immune system and allow yeast overgrowth.  A yeast infection is also contagious from your partner. Finally, an excess of sugar from poor eating or diabetes can also contribute to yeast overgrowth.  Most doctors know nothing about this!  Read up and check the images on Google.  Good luck.

Hey guys. I'm 19 years old and I have experienced the same thing. I had this thing for 2 weeks, red, itchy, and slimy scrotum and it smells kinda weird. And I also found a cure for this, and it was cured for about 2 days. I used Whitfield's Ointment (Benzoic Acid + Salicylic Acid) for the first day. It only costs like a dollar at a local pharmacy. And when you apply it, it burns a LOT like your balls are burning literally!! very very painful.. But the effects are very good. The slimy part was gone but redness is still there. That's where I used the second cure, Dermovate ( Clobetasol Propionate) and it costs 5 or 6 dollars in a local pharmacy. I used it for a day, and it was all gone. The effects are amazing and fast The happiest day of my life. I have just recovered from this curse. And it feels good to be normal. Keep me posted guys. I'd be happy to help you out.

Ive had this same problem a long time. Im using now Vagisil and Monistat 7 and that is working. I use the Vagisil before bed. Also a talc at Walmart called Monkeybutt. Yes that really is the name. Its not expensive. Yes I know the Vagisi and Monistat ate for women. Im guessing I have candidas or yeast in fection or some other fungus. I t got worse as I gained weight. Plus when I drink wine the itch is worse.

I have had this same itch for many many years on my scrotum and penis. I did not begin treating it until a couple years ago. One thing I noticed is that as I gained weight, the symptoms became worse. I weigh 240 now and symptoms are bad. Also when I drink alcohol the symptoms become much worse. Also I have gotten itch and moisture relief from using a talc mix product I get at Walmart called Monkeybutt. It is inexpensive. It is found in the pharmacy area. I have found itch relief from using women's products Vagisil and Monistat 7. So obviously I am treating it as a yeast/thrash/candidas problem but I have not been officially diagnosed. The female Dermatologist and her assistants we're not interested in helping me. Acted like they did not want to get near me..... cannot blame them. I think symptoms worse when drinking alcohol because the alcohol knocks immune system down. Plus I like wine and wine had a lot of sugar for an infection to feed on.
