A few days ago my testicles started itching and it has progressively gotten worse. Now my testicles have swollen into the size of a baseball. I thought it may be jock itch and started using Lotrimin(OTC). That helps for about an hour and then the itching starts again. What do I do for the swelling?

There are two things that come to my mind. I have had yeast infection, so I know a bit about it but I have only heard of contact dermatitis that can affect scrotum as well.
I had the itchiness and redness and minor swelling of the scrotum when I went to see a dermatologist. I suspected yeast because my girlfriend was also diagnosed with it. Although I know yeast is not considered a sexually transmitted disease, I though of it as the only option. Before I saw a dermatologist, I read some things online which appointed to the fact that I could be having contact dermatitis with such symptoms but I could relate coming into contact with any sorts of irritants.
The dermatologist I saw prescribed me an anti-fungal cream and we refrained from sex. We didn’t we know we could. A doc said we could have it with a condom but I very well know that some people may get yeast from reaction to latex condoms, so we decided to wait until we were both clear.
As for dermatitis, it happens when you come into a contact with any of the possible irritants like soaps, detergents, perfumes, even poison ivy, etc.
I reckon you should have it checked with a dermatologist or an urologist to get the proper treatment and determine the cause. You shouldn’t be getting any treatments on your own, because they differ.

My 15 year old grandson has had two episodes of having a severe problem with an itchy back. After going to our cottage for years, my daughter had to take him home because of this problem. The first time it happened we wound up taking him to the emergency room because he was writhing from the intensity of the itch. He was given a nerve block. The following year the same thing happened. No one can find the cause... not his family doctor, dermatologist or allergist. We are baffeled and they will no longer go to the cottage. We don't know if this was the sun, the water, an allergy to something or what. Has anyone ever heard of this?

I've got the same thing, and after reading this it makes since, last week I took a shower at the gym before coming to work, and they have the soap pumps hanging on the wall in the shower (just like on the wall where you wash your hands) and it says it has some strong anti-bacterial soap in it. I only used it twice (2-days last week) but this week my balls have been red, a little swollen, and itching like there's no tomorrow. Lotramin helps keep the itching at bay as long as I keep it applied, but Its been like this since the begining of the week w/o any improvement. Is there something OTC than I can get to get rid of this rash/itch? Or is a trip to the doctor inevitable?
