i noticed this as well, hoping someone will check back in. IT does help to know that other folks are having the same issues and that perhaps we are not crazy, but it would be nice if everyone checked back in to tell us how they are feeling : )

I have been telling my doctor for over 20 years that I get pains inside when I wake during the night and in the mornings. I describe it as " sleeping in an igloo with my stomach tightened so much because of the cold air, that when. I wake and breath in, it kills" letting the air in my lungs slowly so that I can stretch out my insides and lessening the pain slowly. Sometimes taking up to 20 minutes moving around in my bed before getting out. I also squeeze my sides, just under my ribs to help reduce the pain. The pain is worst when. I sleep well and longer. Especially when I do not move in my sleep. During the day, if I am just sitting around, I can feel the pain but if I am busy, it does not bother me. Just recently I went for unltrasounds on my stomach and my kidneys. When she moved around on my kidneys in the front, sides and back, I asked what organs she was looking at? She told me " my kidneys". That was the first time I realized that the pain was in my kidneys and not my stomach. She spent a good 20-25 minutes measuring things on my kidneys. I am still waiting for the results but I am so relieved to finally know that this very annoying pain that I have had for over 20 years, and that worsens with time, is in my kidneys. Hopefully I will know what is causing it sometime next week and see if there is something that can be done about it. Like others with this pain, I do not drink enough during the day. Maybe one 8oz glass total a day. As well, I weigh less than 95 lbs and I cannot put on any weight. I a
So take several medications for thyroid, adrenal gland problems, Fibromyalgia and other issues. So I often thought this pain must be related to something else since they are never finding the cause. But now after seeing that others suffer from this same pain, I know it is not normal and it is coming from my kidneys. Good luck everyone in finding a cure!!!

Hi, i had this issue for years and then was diagnosed with Addison's. (Adrenal Failure)I. I would highly suggest that anyone who is having this issue should see an endronologist and get their adrenals checked out. The adrenal glands sit directly on top of the kidneys and when you get stressed adrenals produce pain especially in the morning if you have had stressful dreams. Get a cortisol level test. I hope this helps.

I am having the same issues as everyone else, I am going to try and change my diet. If the docs don't know what is happening I am not wasting my time and money on them. I will be going gluten free for 60 days. I'll check back in between to update on the progress. Hoping to find relief for myself and others and it's possible we are doing it to ourselves in what we are eating ;( I will miss beer and bread very much!!

I had the same issue for months, had pain in my left kidney while I slept. Some mornings pain was so intense I had difficult time getting dressed. Went to doctor got checked out and CT scan . Nothing, results all negative. I read that too much protein can overwork the kidneys. I lift weights and take a couple protein shakes a day. I quit taking protein shakes altogether and my pain went away completely. Hope this helps..

Going to look into this option. I do not consume hardly any vitamin d. Although I am a redhead. They say we make our own vit. D...I'm still wondering if that's true. Thank you for your comment. :)

Yes!!! I was on accutane for nine months. Horrible kidney pains such as described here.

This makes sense to me. I have been low on vitamin D and I drink a lot of lemon water, so it could be citric acid build-up. Always worse the mornings after I have had any coffee or carbonated beverage (even seltzer). So sad that I've been dealing with this for so long and have no faith at all in doctors; seems like many of us turn to online discussions like this instead. I need more vitamin D anyway, so it can't hurt to start taking a supplement and see if it helps. Hopefully I'll enable to find this pot again in a few months and can let everyone know if it did the trick. Thanks Jim, for your suggestion.

I think it is nerve damage..Your nerves in your ureter or the kidneys are not working correctly so when you lay down and your body is not circulating pressure builds up in your ureter and that is what causes the pain..This would explain why is goes away when you sit up or move around. I have the same problem and it sucks..

Laying in bed now with all the symptoms, like most mornings. Seems most severe after long hard days that wrap-up with celebration beers and grilling out. Dehydration and heavy red meat??
I am going to try consciously hydrating.
Thanks!
