im about five months in after acl and meniscus surgery and everytime i straighten my leg it pops and it kind of hurts but not a lot. When im doing things active i dont feel any popping but afterwards it pops and im scared that i tore it again or something. i dont know what i should do about it. It only hurts on the left side of my knee. it hurts when i also straighten my leg and flex really hard. The pain is right next to my knee cap on the left side and also underneath my knee on the left side. It feels like i have a bump on the bottom of my knee on the left side.

I would def get it checked out. I had acl surgery 8 years ago and now because of continuing sports I have no cartilage left in my knee and it pops every once in awhile but I get severe swelling, pain, and stiffness and usually cannot walk properly for two weeks after it happens

After reading all these experiences I could relate to all but I'm currently 10weeks post op of my 2nd ACL surgery. I'll point out I've had loud pop and swelling and pain and am extremely fearful it has torn again as I cannot pin point when or how it was torn after my first surgery. There wasn't a significant pop at any stage I just noticed I was unstable I mentioned it to my surgeon he suggested there may be surgery we can do to add stability to the left of my knee (as I had also had PLC reconstruction the first time) I left it for a year until my partner and I could cope with the surgery financially as we have three small children. After the MRI it was discovered I had torn the ACL again and also the medial meniscus. I've resigned from my job as it has been high movement twist turn rushed work and I'm already doing considerable amount of those actions with three of kids to run around after 2 under the age of 3. My positivity this time around is poor compared to my eager nature to return to all pre surgery activities now I feel I just have a looming cloud of another ACL tear. This has defiantly altered and set back life plans for my partner and I 2012 I had my accident 2016 I'm recovering from 2nd surgery

I had my acl reconstruction surgery in 2001 so 15 years later and this is still happening to me. Doctor says it's the stretching of the "new ligament" (they took from my patella). It only happens to me maybe once every other year, hear the pop, knee buckles, think I tore it again, swells and then a few days later its back to normal.

Had large meniscus tear repaired. Almost year out and knee pops a lot. Doesn't hurt when it happens but. Sometimes it gives out on me. Swelling on inside of knee also. What did you find out?

you probably know this by now but from what i understand this is a serious problem and you will definately have to seek advice on this one.

You most likely experienced your knee giving out. Basically you have all these little muscles in your knee and when not properly rehabilitated these muscles won’t give correct stability. Meaning, your knee will give way following with a little bit of tenderness, smelling, and aswell pain. It’s a threat but it’s treatable. With the right plan you will successfully return with no reoccurring episodes. If not treated, you will continuously work out and your knee will still give out. Most people use the typical leg day ethic. Those exercises will strengthen you LEG but not the knee structure itself. Stability exercises will work the joint itself and slowly prepare yourself for any explosive landing/movement.

When I lean on my left knee it pops every time, it also pops every time I walk. And it hurts when I bend it. Should I go to the specialist?
