I am in need of knee replacement in both knees. I am on blood thinners due to a heart attack in 2003 and also had uteran cancer with lymph node removal and total hysterectomy in 2009. What are the risk of the knee replacements? I am told there is a chance my legs will swell. I am sure in a few years I will not be able to walk.

As with any surgery, infection is always a concern. There is a chance of a clot, since you are on blood thinners they'll watch that closely, heart attack, or stroke. There could also be some stiffness.

There may be some swelling but it should only be temporary.

I'd suggest you ask your doctor or surgeon for more specifics.
