For the last few years, every time I sit or move or bend a certain way, I get a very painful knot in the upper part of my body (right side, below ribcage). I can see and feel the sensation of a knot, and the only way to get rid of it is to stretch out as far as I can. You know when a rubberband is twisted and becomes knotted up? This is what it feels like. Eventually, a rubberband will break as the rubber becomes worn. I'm afraid that whatever this is, whatever part of me is coiling up is going to bust, just as a rubberband would. I've asked different doctors over the years about this, and have never gotten an answer as to what this might be. Hurts like hell when it happens!!! Also, if it happens while I'm driving, it's almost impossible to stretch out enough to get rid of the pain, not to mention that I lmust look extremely ridiculous to anyone watching me while I attempt to stretch in my car seat. Can anyone out there help, or at least is anyone out there experiencing the same thing? As they say, "misery loves company".
Thanks,
Laura

laura I have the same problem for years,i have had all types of blood work done and cant find anything wrong.I would get these spasms as many as 10-12 times a day.they may be in my side,my back or my stomach.ON my own I tried process of elimination on my meds when I stopped statin drugs (for cholesterol) it was instant relief after a few days. I would rather a little high cholesterol than go through those spasms. If you take statins talk to your dr obout this.I now take fish oil and a tablespoon of vinegar daily.choleterol seems to be o.k. ps red yeast rice also caused spasms as it is like a statin.

I had this very same thing and they ended up removing my gall bladder removed. The pain was bad during these attacks and would double me over (very bad on a ladder). See if they will do a sonogram of your gall bladder.
