Light Bleeding between period and a Foul Odor

NO --Thank you!!! You have no idea how much you post has helped me. I too should know better because I am in my late thirties, married over ten years and have a 9 year old child.  I sincerely thought I was dying. 3weeks ago my husband and I had sex and the next day, I had horrible cramps all day for 2 days straight and every time I would laugh and or cough I notice that I kept having sometime of discharge with a really funny smell that I never smelled before.  A couple of days after that , I got my period ( I was using tampons then).  After my period for finished same symptoms, discharge when laughing and coughing or when I would sit or stand,  Well, after reading this post and on WebMD, I took a shower and felt around ...can you believe it--that nasty tampon was right there!! I am so embarrassed! I had no idea.  I think my sexual episode may have dislodged the tampon to hit my cervix which would explain why I felt sooooo much pressure that night, For the past month, I have been eating a lot of yogurt which probably explains why I never smelled anything until it start to descend, All, I can say after 2 trips to the doctor, and 3 weeks of nausea.....ladies --please check the inside of your va-jay-jay if you use tampons.  My next step is to call my OBGYN tomorrow and get and antibiotic--I think I may have been suffering from toxicity from the tampon being inside for so long which would explain the nausea, bloating, lower back pain, constant trips to the bathroom, and last but not least that horrible smell and discharge. Is it possible for a tampon to be the issue if you're a virgin??

Holy Molly, I have had the same symptoms going on for two months, starting to freak out. The smell just wouldn't go away. Was just about to make a dr's apt and found this forum. I decided to go ahead and dig around for that missing tampon.... and lo and behold... I had one stuck there also. Don't ask me how I forgot it, I don't know. I see this happens to numerous women before, so I don't feel bad. I pulled it out and feel sheer relief! I am going to douche with  bit of apple cider vinegar to clean out a bit and hopefully I woun't have to go to the dr. (I am not big on Dr's) 

Yeah, the smell was bad... not like a yeast infection, that's why I was worried it was something else. No in hindsight the smell was like a rotten old tampon.... DUH.... 

Do yourself a favor and just go ahead and check for a missing tampon, if you have these symptoms. Don't feel bad if you lost one, just be happy you were able to get it out and be gone with it! 

Omg I hound out I had a tampon lodged inside me. It was hiding around my cervix. When I pulled it out it was in a circular form so I'm guessing it was wrapped round my cervix. I found this post last night and had the same symptoms. My boyfriend sex yesterday and when he pulled out it was by far the worst smell I ever smelled in my entire life. It was as if something was rotting inside of me. And I put another tampon in and it at was brown at the tip of the tampon, when I would put it in the trash it smelled soooooo bad that it stunk up the restrooms I would use.

Can't thank everyone enough, after reading the posts....had a look (!) and low and behold, there it was, the nasty tampon!, ....after all these years too, shocking, but problem solved without the embarrassment of a trip to the docs.  Thanks all.x

Cannot freaking believe I left a tampon inside me!!! 26 3 kids I guess I must have just forgotten. Was reading this post went to the bathroom to check in the shower could not believe this was my problem! Thank God for these posts!

Same thing just happened... Thank Goodness for this post. I thought I was freaking out because I havent had intercourse in a while so it couldnt be std... Smelled so gross. I remember last week in the middle of the night i went to take a tampon out but couldnt find the string so i figured I didnt wear one to bed since i was just spotting. I must have pushed it up higher with another one. To tired to pa attention. scared the c**p outta me tho.

Thanks again to those people who posted. My doctor prescribed me antibiotics for BV w/out seeing me and even after I finished the treatment I could still smell the odor. Guess what, it was a tampon.

It's an yeast infection. If you don't. Clear it, it will never go away

It is most certainly NOT a yeast infection. Thanks for this post-- I read all of these replies a week ago, fished around, nothing. Made an appt. with my Dr. Decided to give it another try tonight in the shower. There it was-- tiny and nasty. Ladies, if you are experiencing this, CHECK YOURSELVES-- I would bet $$ you will find that tampon. YUCK.

Omg! I was googling and read this article and thought that could never happen....but I did drink and I had sex with my boyfriend it could be possible but I don't have a loose vagina, I woulda noticed. I checked and omg sure enough I felt a string. I have been told by my gyno I a long narrow vagina so it wasn't easy to get out and Imildly panicked but I got it out and it was most deffinately the awful smell. I am so glad it wasn't and infection or std! THANK YOU

Hello. I too am suffering from blood spotting, discharge and foul odor. It's been like this for a month or so but now the smell is stronger. I know it's not a tampon, because I don't use them. Is there any way I can deal with this until my gyno appointment?

I use make up sponges sometimes. I had the same problem and I just felt around up there after reading this post. Omg. How did I forget that :'(

I have had this pinkish, white, with a horrible fish smelling odor for seven days. I strained my back at the gym, went to the doctor's & was prescribed prednisone & a muscle relaxant. I called the office concerned that it was a bacterial vaginosis, the nurse stated that a yeast infection is a rare side effect on prednisone & to pick up a three day monistat if symptoms continue. I rarely get yeast infections due to taking a daily acidophilus supplement & that has helped tremendously. Bottom line I knew something was wrong, so I continued to search the web & came across this blog at 4am. I went to pee & the odor was so bad I gagged. I attempted to feel around in my vag. and felt this wet sponge but couldn't get it. I woke up my husband who successfully pulled out this corroded-brown-bloody tampon. Whoever started this thread is a life saver. I have irregular cycles with on & off heavy bleeding due to fibroids & endometriosis. I go through a lot of sanitary napkins & tampons monthly. Lesson learned & please don't judge this could happen to anyone. Life is short, take care of your health, & thanks for reading.
