Light Bleeding between period and a Foul Odor

OMG. When I first read this post, I thought to myself... "how in the world does someone forget they have a tampon in??????". Of course as I kept reading, many people had the same reaction and then found that they too had forgotten they had a tampon in. So, I decided to do a little exploring myself and lord behold there was a tampon lodged in my vagina. THANK YOU so much for posting this. I would've never thought that this would happen to me if it wasn't for your post. I've been experiencing this foul smelling discharge for about a month now but thought that it was just a side effect of spotting due to me skipping my placebo pills. It has definitely put a strain on my confidence and sex life for the past month but now I've finally figured out why. Again, who ever posted this is a life saver! THANK YOU!

My dear had the same issue, I used Canesten Pessery, am hoping it goes away for good # whew it's disgusting!

Oh my goodness, I am so glad I found this thread, and I'm really glad I read your post in particularly! I too am 29, I have NEVER left a tampon inside of myself. I am always so careful about my hygiene. I searched online for causes of cramps, bleeding 2 days after my period ended and a foul smell coming from my cervix (I checked my cervix to see what was going on up there) and I honestly started freaking out at first bc the only thing I could find on google was cervical cancer symptoms! And then by the grace of God I stumbled across this thread. The first couple of posts about tampons being stuck honestly went in one ear and out the other. But then I started reading one right after the other of the same thing happening and then I saw YOURS and what you said about being 29 and having never left one before and I thought, maybe...just maybe I forgot one. I suppose it could happen to anyone, right??? Sure enough, there was one lodged up there! FOUR DAYS OLD!!! UCK! All I can say is thank you LORD! And thank you ladies for sharing, seriously!! You helped save me a lot of embarrassment and ALOT of money on a trip to the ER (I'm currently out of town and wouldn't have been able to see my doctor). Ladies- CHECK YOURSELVES!!! LOL! And always make sure you remove your tampon before *ahem* intimate times ;)

I'm experiencing the same symptoms, but I don't wear tampons. A few months ago I noticed clots during my period, but I didn't think much of it. I'm concerned now because I have the bloody discharge and FOUL odor, but there is definitely not a tampon lodged in my vagina. I'm going to schedule a visit with an OB/GYN next week because I know this is not normal.

I have to say I'm shocked. I'm 45 years old and this has never happened to me. I had a very lite period. 2 days and light spotting for 9 days. I made an appointment for my doctor because of this. There is also a foul Odor. Never had this before. I came across this post after reading that I could possible have cancer or something and read about the tampon. I was like nah. That can't be it. I went ahead and checked anyway. Holy sh*t. It was a logged tampon! I can't believe it. Thanks for the post!

I have had the same problems
the bad smell
and spotting

it had been going for about a month and tonight I googled it and came across your comments so I said why not just check to see if my anserw is because of a tampon stuck up there and wow what do u know
lol there was a tampon there

and instantly the smell is gone and I am so happy it's nothing more serious !!!

All I can say is....wow. I am SO thankful to have found this thread. I started off with pink mucus spotting about 5 days AFTER my period ended, then a day later deeper red spotting and a horrible sickening odor.

I never had any of this before and didn't know what was happening. I actually thought I was sick, had endometriosis starting, was going through "the change" early, had somehow ruptured my uteris or ruptured an ovary during my new fitness routine, etc etx....you name it, I thought I was suffering from it to cause this bleeding after my period.

I searched the internet and after finding a few sites that listed symptoms that didn't quite match to mine, I found this thread. Whoever started this, THANK YOU!!! Lo And behold I had a tampon that I didn't realize had gotten embedded and lodged way far up. Smelled awful upon removal but am so glad to have found the cause and cure to my bleeding.

Im having same thing and I don't think I have a tampon up there but when I did have intercourse a piece of tissue tampon came out. Very small though. The odor seems to be coming from inside though.

I can't thank all of you ladies enough for being honest and open enough to share these stories. Yes, embarrassing, but not one of us is perfect. I had been having th same symptoms for weeks and out of pure stubbornness, did not go to a doctor. I hid the odor as best as I could from my husband, which meant we were not intimate for almost a month. I had plans to make an appointment this morning and thought before I do so, I'll just check to see if I accidentally left a tampon in. And low and behold, what did I find? A tampon that I somehow forgot about. Disgusting and embarrassing yes, but I am so glad I can go back to my normal life and put this embarrassing issue behind me. Trust me, if you're reading this thinking it could never happen to you, it most certainly can! I am going to be so much more conscious of my tampon usage in the future. Thanks again ladies!

One more thanks to all the others! I was chalking it up to hormonal changes as I get ready to turn 40 but it was a dang tampon stuck in there. I've been traveling recently including a red eye flight and got out of the routine, so I guess that's how it happened. I wanted to keep this post high on the Google search list for others with this problem so I figured I'd post. My symptoms were light blood even on the 11th day of a period, and the kicker was the odor during intercourse. Thanks to others for sharing .
