This is a repeat post. Originally misspelled lisfranc in the original post and I think that has caused less people to see my issue. Sorry about the repeat.
Hi, I am a 43 year old female who is also joining the "lisfranc club." I was involved in an automobile accident January 16, 2009. I was misdiagnosed for 7 weeks before I finally had the surgery by a 2nd opinion. I had the surgery on March 3, 2009. I had a plate and 5 screws placed in my foot. I fractured my 2nd metatarsil and associated cuneform. I have read many of the posts and can understand so much of what I am reading. I have been weight bearing for 6 weeks now. My biggest question to anyone out here is....since about 3-4 days after the surgery, I could feel a very strong pressure point on the ball of my foot when I was in my cast. I am sure it was obvious then because of the swelling with the cast around it. As time went on w/ the no weight bearing process, I did not notice it so much as the swelling went down. As soon as I started to bear weight on the foot, that hard bump on the ball of my foot, or as I also call it a marble became to be a large issue for me trying to regain walking. When I try to roll off the ball of my foot in walking, that marble seems to send off nerve endings. I went back to the surgeon 3 weeks ago and he said in simple terms that it is the 3rd metatarsil knuckle is irritated and I needed to start wearing orthotics. I wore them for two weeks and was no better. Again, visiting the doctor he had me go get them modified to take more weight off the ball of my foot in this process of trying to heal that "marble." I am still wearing these orthotics and not noticing any difference yet. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this or close to the same thing? I have been told that good chances I will always have to wear orthotics in my shoes for the metatarsil. I am noticing the achiness and tightness also that is probably assoicated w/ the hardware in my foot. I feel like I am making no progress at all. Anyone else have information on this?
