Hi, I'm 31 yo.. and currently (2 days ago) my doctor changed my medication from Zyprexa to Lithium (I have Bipolar)

Before that I told him that I had weight gain for 22 kgs (from 45 up to 67.5kgs). I told my doctor, that I want to go back to my normal weight, however he changed to LIthium. And we all know that it has the same side effect with Zyprexa for weight gain.

Could you advise me for this matter??
I think my doctor did not consider weight gain as a problem, while for me it is a big problem. :-(
Lithium has a much lower amount of weight gain than zyprexa, although it does cause some. But NOTHING like zyprexa. Abilify and geodon are considered weight neutral, but he probably wants to transfer you to something that is more consistently effective for bipolar. You will most likely lose weight getting off the zyprexa even if its moving to Lithium.

Another consideration: weigh yourself once a week so if you gain you can quit the Lithium before its a dramatic weight gain.
