I noticed a longish and hard lump in my neck, on the trapezius muscle, a little while ago. I tried to ignore it for a while but that hasn't worked, and I have to admit that I am kind of worried about it. It seems to be attached to the muscle, although I can't be a 100 per cent sure of that. What do you think this could be? Should I be worried?
Can you tell us how old you are please? I recently read an article that such lumps (talking about ones that are attached to a muscle) should be considered tumorous in people older than forty years of age, until proven "innocent" :-), in other words benign. If you are younger, I'd still see a doctor to be honest, just in order to be on the safe side.

Thank you for your answer, that does make sense. I am not 40 yet but it won't be much longer. I guess that there is no reason I should not see a doctor - if it is nothing, I will have just lost half an hour or so of my time, but if the lump does turn out to be serious and I didn't go to the doctor, I guess I'll regret it for life.

Just wondering how this turned out.
