lumps in my lower back, they have been causing a lot of pain

I've had these"lumbs" for a few yrs now and they have been causing alot of pain.. I finally got some good medical insurance so I went to a regular Dr and they referred me to a spine Dr. I've gotten xrays MRI and blood work and everything u can imagine. My spine Dr said she didn't see anything and was trying to get me to take a steroids injection in my hip b/c that was the reason that them lumps was inflamed... I kept telling her that it wasn't anything to do with my hips... Now she wants me to try physical therapy to see if that helps... Needless to say I'm going to get a second opinion... I came home from work today and I sat on the couch for about 3hrs b/c I couldn't do anything else. I couldn't move b/c every way I tried to turn a very sharp pain was in my back and shooting down my butt...i need some ideas about what to do next.....
