Well for my brothers it took about 30 days each before their symptoms leveled off and then another 30 before they totally felt normal, at least that's what they said. I asked them about it last night and they said that your goal should be the 90 day point and to take Ambien if you are having trouble sleeping or some other sort of non-habit forming sleeping pill. Does this help? Are you still looking to quit?

Hi jimmy. :) I talked to my brothers on the phone yesterday and talked to them at length about it. They said that they both were really tired but had insomnia for a lot of the time, that one of them actually had panic attacks for awhile, that both of them felt really bad. I think that between the two of them, they gained 30 pounds while recovering. They both feel pretty awesome now though, and they've lost all that weight. Are you thinking of quitting?

Has anything changed with pot since the 80's?
Is it now laced with other chemicals, more potent or what?

When I discovered I was pregnant in the early 80's I quit "cold turkey" and had absolutely none of the symptoms you people are writing about. It was a breeze!

Could it be that you are psychologicaly dependent and not physically dependent on this stuff?

Please fill me in...I'm behind times, I guess. I haven't touched this stuff since I gave it up 25 yrs ago.

When I say panic attack, I mean like a full-on panic attack. I know that one of my brothers was experiencing pretty bad ones and couldn't leave the house for awhile because it got so bad and it'd developed into agoraphobia. But yeah, he's gotten a lot better. How are you doing with this?

KariB, as for marijuana, yes, it has gotten a LOT more potent. I know that a lot of strains now are so bad as to knock you back completely buzzed for up to 24 hours. I also know that it depends on how much you smoked as to whether your symptoms are bad or not. I don't think it really makes a difference whether it's psychological or physical dependence in either case--it just means that quitting is hard either way. I do know that pot is addictive despite what many people think, so I think what he's going through is typical withdrawal symptoms.

I totally understand. I'm sorry that you're not feeling well today but let me tell you, you've now come over half the way! You can make it to 90 days and once you do, you won't even know how to react. You'll feel great! And I can tell you that you'll be feeling much better at that point too. Believe it or not, feeling like you're stressed and overwhelmed is just more anxiety. You can just tell yourself that you feel that way because you're feeling tired that day, but you'll feel better. I swear! Keep me posted, okay?

Just wondering if this is all because of my sertonion levels are getting back to normal levels?

Absolutely. A shortage of serotonin in the brain often means that your chemicals are off and it can mean that you're feeling depressed or anxious or whatever, so you have to let the chemicals reregulate themselves and get back to normal. Does that make sense?

is there anything I can do to help that come quicker

Not really, no. I think the best thing you can do to improve your serotonin levels is just mood. You need to make sure that you are positive and that you are in a good mood as much as possible. I know that sounds unhelpful (or at least it does to me) but it really does work. Wish you all the best! How are you doing?

when do you think my serotonion level will be fully regulated?

To be honest, like I said, in about 90 days. I think that at this point you're at the level where you feel mostly normal, but it is only going to get better. Does that help at all?
