Your ignorance is frightening and should not be shared with people who are trying to make this significant change. As a marijuana smoker for over 15 years, I am absolute proof that there are physical withdrawal symptoms. I am on my 12th day of absolutely no marijuana.
You obviously need to be schooled on the difference between psychological and physical withdrawal symptoms. Weight loss and night sweats are physical symptoms. Headaches are physical symptoms. Yes, there is psychological withdrawal as well, but to ignore the body's biological response means that you have smoked yourself stupid and if you are not a smoker, then you're just miseducated and need to change that before you post erroneous information.

Insomnia....is a PHYSICAL dependence related issue. Weed has a long term, physical effect on the neurotransmitters and corresponding receptors in your brain making withdrawal include the very physical response of insomnia and loss of appetite to name just two. SO LIKE YOU SAY "do some research" Marijuana is both psychologically as well as physically addictive although the physical addiction is less and not as long lasting as the psychological withdrawal symptoms.

I smoked for 14 months almost every day (without 4-5) and it's true it took more to get high and it wasn't the same. I wanted to quit and smth happended where i needed to stop and i kinda said it was good time to get out of the fog and unproductivity i was in. So far it's been 2 weeks and holy c**p the first days were brutal insomnia, loneliness, depression, wanting to get more weed, lack of appetite, partially anxiaty. I feel like a lot better then the first few days-week but it's still not 100% clear. I don't know how to explain mostly trying to get the plesaure i use to get from doing things like hobbies and playing games, eating, watching movies etc is kinda lowered and and still not feel with energy like i use to. I am not sure if this is gonna go away in time or not. I mean i am doing a lot better trying to get back to hobbies and studying...in the next few days gonna try eating healty and doing some physical wrokout. If any1 can give me of whats and how far is to come it would help a lot cuz i really wanna get back to normal. also quit smoking cigs 8 months ago cuz it wasn't that good for me and i found weed better and stopped drinking alchohol soon after i started smoking weed. And as a spin off i got a lot more cash. Oh and i am 19 now and started smoking at 18.

I have been weed free for 4 days now and was a chronic smoker for over 10 years. The only pros to me getting high was the brief high and perceived escape from my stress filled life as well as the luxury of spending hundreds every month on californias best grown. it was hard even getting high because i knew i would have to hit a low hours later once my high came down and would be right back to blazing up again. i was ashamed to be around non smokers lost tremendous amounts of weight and confidence due to my lack of.healthy socializing because of weed. i didnt want my five year old son seeing me smoke or my close friends who knew theme prior to smoking again.once i quit it was hard sleeping, eating, i was alot more impatient and using anger as an replacement for weed to release my stress. although these all disappeared the second to third day and i feel awesome. i wake up able to move with energy non drowsy and cloudy. i am able to tackle alot more of life with confidence and not feeling self guilt around close friends and family. i have more energy to think right and a more clearer mind to perceive things i coldnt because i was to blowed. i feel healthier spiritually knowing god is proud of my decision to be sober and i most likely wont go back because my son deserves the 100% me not.the.high i will tolerate you me. i hope this helpss.and.the.benefits of quitting are far more in number than the benefits of.smoking. god bless :)

*Addictive* learn english before you correct someone, and physical additives... no but you will become dependent on it if you smoke it enough, your clearly a weed smoker yourself trying to justify smoking it.

I have quit alcohol (I was a "helpless drunk") cigarettes (pack a day smoker for years), heroin (IV shot a gram a day) anti depressants, and caffeine cold turkey. I can ASSURE you their is no such thing as a physical dependency to marijuana. Your just being a lil b***h. It's all in your head. Go for a walk you p***y!

So, I know this post is a year old. But I thought I'd share my experience as I believe some of these statements are slightly incorrect. To the person who claimed that quitting cigarettes was easier than quitting weed, either you are lying and have never smoked cigarettes or you have some extreme psychological dependency issues. THC, as stated by a previous poster, has a very minute PHYSICALLY addictive quality. That being said,  heavy users (like I am) do form a "dependency" as smoking pot becomes a ritual of sorts. Hell, coffee is more addictive than weed! Anyways, I'm on my 4th day of a 1/2 month T break and Ive thought about smoking pot almost not at all. This is coming from a college kid who has smoked on average 4-6 times a day for 2 years. I did have trouble falling asleep the first two nights but honestly all these "hot flashes" and stuff people are talking about sound way over exaggerated. I took a month off during my senior year of high school and didnt have any of those symptoms mentioned either. Hell either Im just some anomaly who isnt effected by quitting weed or the rest of you guys are just whimps. Pull yourselves together, its a f*****g plant, just try to smile and feel good about quitting! (I have definitely noticed my head feels clearer even on day 4)

I like the person that said insomnia wasnt a physical side effect, last time i checked sleeping is something that your body does physically.

Heavy smoker here, I smoked weed for almost a year now, 2 or 3 times a day. I quit smoking weed Cold Turkey style on 04/06/13 before 420 ( reason is self explanatory lol ) and here are my symptoms. The date is 04/10/13 extreme loss of appetite and very uncomfortable feeling in stomach, i have diarrhea and sleeplessness even if i go to bed at 12 while being super tired, i wake up at 6, 7 or 8 o'clock in the morning uncontrollably feeling tired and sleepy, but I can't go back to sleep. Very rapid mood swing, from angry to happy to almost crying sadness back to normal. So far probably i haven't reached a withdrawal pick because i still feel bad and don't feel any improvements. I would say all those symptoms start to go away probably within next 10 days. Overall, I would say expect to feel like shiit for 1-3 weeks, depending on your body size and how often and what grade of weed you were smoking.

give it 10 days and you'll feel alot better. some old time smokers may take longer.   ur not sleeping because uve been so damn stoned ur body is waking back up.  you'll sweat like a pig and loose your appetite because of your body naturally detoxifying itself (which can cause vomiting for a couple days due to your body overheating and not eating right).....  as far as anything else its just an uncomfortable feeling.   chug lots of water to stay hydrated and after a few days youll stop sweating so damn much, start eating better and start getting comfortable with your Clean body again... 99% of it is mental        there is no wheening yourself off of it....it just prolongs the affects and confuses your body weather to detoxify or hold in the thc....thus making it worse on yourself......cold turkey is the only way to go.   you'll notice you'll be really snappy and not want to deal with peoples sh*t for the first few days also...maybe even a little confusion in the brain ,  then all of a sudden it all comes back and you'll feel like you got some kind of superbrain because of all the stuff you start remembering.   If sitting around makes you feel like your heart is pumping hard then go for a run or walk, which also helps sweat the sh*t out faster.  anything else u experience u may want to consult a doctor about

This forum inspired me to quit pot. I'm going into day 3 and having some noticeable withdrawal symptoms, like anxiety and trouble falling asleep. I've been a habitual smoker since I was 18, and I'm almost 34. I've gone without smoking before, but never experienced symptoms like this. It took me a long time to admit I was abusing the drug. I always say, smoking is like drinking, it's harmless, (arguably more harmless than drinking) but you don't drink every day, so why was I smoking every day? Pot was holding me back, and the newfound clarity is already so noticeable. It's not fun to feel like this, but I will get through it, I may smoke on rare occasions in the future but I'm never going back to being a full fledged stoner.
