Hi =)
I had an ear surgery 3 days ago and it still really hurts, i took the prescribed medicine which was supposed to be taken max. 3 pills every day and i consumed a little bottle of 20 in 2 nights :-P
my question is :
can anything bad happen if i smoke a joint?
i'm taking an oral antibiotic too.

You shouldn't be smoking anything after the surgery, not cigarettes, not a joint. Smoke clogges the blood vessels and prevents healing i.e. slows down the healing process.

i smoked right after nose surgery and am perfectly fine. i have never had a problem.

I am getting surgery on a tendon in my ankle in 4 days... would it be bad if I smoked up 2 days before the surgery? I've heard many different opinions on this.

You may be lucky and be fine, but common sense must tell you that smoking after surgery on your ears, nose and throat areas is asking for infection and pain. It's SO not worth it.
Smoking before surgery on yoru ankle should be fine in that respect. Of course, let's not ignore that ANY smoking isn't going to be doing you any favours.

OK, basically you all are saying that smoking MARIJUANA is a pain relief and has no effects..... :idea: yes it does over a certain amount of time some one can get addicted then what you sure can't take it from them be cuase of the FACT that you all let them smoke then they can't avoid nor controll their hormones to that drug ..... also if it is so goodthen why is it ilegal no one has do research on it to kno that when individuals add their ingrediant to it, ot has an effect . what u all are saying is that basically it is ok to smoke with a doctor but not ok to smoke at home .... that the same as a person who has an obessity promblem to give them crack for a 3 weeks think about it

Most of the posts on this site that react negatively to marijuana use are written by people who, obviously, have never used marijuana. It would also seem that they failed to research the drug's effects. Marijuana does, in fact, dilate the blood vessels (thus the tell-tale "red eye" of a user). It has also been proven to have antibiotic properties, which rules out the risk of infection based on marijuana use. While I will say that most of the people who have objected in this thread are idiots, I will also say that marijuana is a very complicated drug composed of over 100 different active chemicals. For this reason, I cannot say whether or not it would be beneficial or not to use after surgery. The problem is that, with research restrictions what they are in this country, I'm not sure that anyone could tell you with 100% certainty.

Thank you "guest". I get tired of hearing time and again from ignorant people how bad cannabis really is for you. I personally had surgery 2 days ago and would probably still be suffering for the nausea and vomiting if it weren't for my..habit? I'm with him...facts straight..or shut the f up.

I live in California and it is legal. In regards to pain, the cost of my sisters pain meds for stage 4 cancer was about $30,000 a month 10 years ago. She does not smoke anything but tried weed. It worked better then the official pain meds and she stopped using the pain meds. When the cancer went into remission she stopped smoking weed since. The reason the drug company lobby works so hard against marijuana is it is cheaper and they don’t sell it. It is not in their best interests to allow the sale of weed when they have expensive drugs to sell.

second last dude, 2 questions for ya. i just had shoulder surgery yesterday, textbook stoner, blazed all day after the op.
the nerve block wore off earlier than it was supposed to. instead of 24-48, i got about 12. my dad seems to think the marijuana smokes countered the effects of the block somehow, which of course i think is BS. any chance in hell this is possible? or do you think the block just wore off when it was destined to?
second, the nurse was pretty adamant that i not smoke up while taking oxycontin. she said there's a high risk that combining the two could decrease my blood pressure and speed up my high heart rate, potentially resulting in a heart attack... so far, so good. however, i'm still curious as to what the legit risks are. what are your thoughts on mixing oxycontin with weed?
peace

I just had a laparoscopic appendectomy last night and it has been around 17 hours after the surgery. I am in a lot of pain and I was wondering if I could smoke some marijuana to relieve the pain without damaging myself further or slowing down the healing process. Please respond.
