This is completely untrue, i just quit smoking pot 2 weeks ago and have smoked all day every day for about 6 years and was a daily user from when i was about 16 (i'm 44). Both times i was pregnant i quit without any side affects at all and this time the only thing i noticed was slight irritability for the first couple of days, no insomnia, loss of appetite, anxiety or depression. I am also a x cig smoker and found this habit much harder to stop.Comparing pot to crack, heroin or even alcohol is just plain dumb. Nobody has ever died from weed.

I will say, as a daily smoker for the past three years and an occasional one three years before that , my initial reaction to what people are saying here about physical dependence, and how difficult it is to quit, is one of dubiousness. I've had to quit smoking several times before, sometimes for months at a time just to get jobs, and I personally have not had any difficulty with it. What I found more difficult to grapple with was the idea of quitting before I actually did it the first time. I had worked myself up in my head that I would have trouble sleeping, die of boredom, etc. It kind of became a little scary in my head for a while, and that's when I decided I should try quitting. The first day kind of sucked just because I didn't really know what to do with myself, and after that, it was very easy. Had no trouble sleeping, and certainly didn't have cold sweats and trouble eating and all the outlandish problems you people are describing. I had a HELL of a time quitting smoking cigarettes, it took me years, and I still struggle and slip up every now and then.
However, cannabis is a drug, it does get you high, and should be used responsibly. If you really do perceive adverse reactions from quitting smoking, whether it's legitimate or "in your head" you shouldn't smoke if it bothers you that much. Cannabis is supposed to be fun and enlightening, and the drug is not serving its purpose if you find it that much of a hassle. It may not be for you, because weed is CERTAINLY not for everyone.
I will say, though, that I have a sneaking suspicion that many of these reports of "marijuana withdrawal and addiction" are utter bull. Very few of these conditions described are consistent with what data there is on marijuana use and disuse, and are people that have either never tried the drug before and are trying to scare others into doing the same, or tried it, had a bad time, and feel the need to spread the idea that marijuana is inherently harmful. I would disagree with that statement, and reiterate that the drug is not for everyone, and if you can't handle starting or stopping of the drug, don't do it.
Lastly, I've discussed cannabis with my physician. He says there is little to no proven risk of emphysema from smoking cannabis, especially when you smoke concentrates such as hash or oil that do not have any plant matter. There is ZERO risk of lung disease if you vaporize or orally ingest food with marijuana in it. Honestly, I have a harder time eating a balanced diet than not smoking. I think addiction is in the individual, not this particular drug.
All I ask is that everyone try to leave their emotional preconceptions about marijuana at the door when you read my post. I mean, I remember DARE when I was a kid. I was told I could get lung cancer if I smoked even one joint. I was told this by police officers, parents, even by teachers, who are supposed to be knowledgeable, logical and scientific about issues such as this. It just goes to show how much damage and falsehood some lobbyists in the first half of the twentieth century can spread.

hey guys i just quit 4 days ago and sorry to say it but you all have these "withdraw symptoms" in your heads. I have smoked 10 years every day and not just weed but multiple hash hits off my TI nail literally blazed all day every day. I finally realized it is holding me back and making me lazy. like i said im on day 4 of weed free. im sleeping great every night. im actually eating more than when i smoked. i was always angry at my job but my last 2 shifts have gone FLAWLESS like no anger at all for the entire day. i have all my pipes filled with resin and yet i havent even though about scrapping them. i mean i have NO negative side effects at all everything is freakin awesome. its all in your heads literally. i tried quitting about a year ago and said the same things all of you are now but this time i said screw it. this is up to me and its my choice and i dont need weed in my life. guess what this time quitting has been a breeze. you come online and see 1000 sites saying you wont be able to sleep and you will be more irritable so you put that in your head as what to expect then you got the good old placebo going for ya. say what you will about my post but in all honesty i see no issues with quitting. it may be in part that i delt with alcohol/coke addiction problem as well as quitting cigs so mentally im prepped for practically quitting anything. just remember does the pipe float to your mouth and light itself or is that up to you??? in the end this is the EASIEST thing i have ever quit, ive had more stress from quitting a job than i have with quitting weed. sorry if i seem rude i just want to let you all know it is up to you what you do if you want to quit weed then quit weed there is no force making you smoke so whats the issue?

hey again im the poster above. i just realized why i may have no withdraw effects from quitting. I have been working out 4 times a week for the past 3 years, take a multi, fish oil, joint support, a green drink, a reds drink, extremely well monitored diet. this is the exact opposite of most pot heads life styles maybe this is why i have the exact opposite effects from quitting. maybe it has something to do with your physical condition prior to quitting??? since im in great shape could this nullify side effects? just a thought to consider!

I was an everyday smoker for two years. I started when I was 20 and now, at 22, I find it's time to open a new chapter in my life. I'm a college student and I have realized that Pot is no way to win in life. I have so many goals I would like to achieve and refuse to allow myself to be ruined by that plant. It's been over a week without it and I have insomnia, my appetite and and mood have been unaffected. I've noticed that my memory is starting to get better and I've noticed that my speech has gotten better (written still the same). I think that MJ does have negative effects as I had noticed after about 6 months of smoking everyday I became lazier and more complacent about life. I highly recommend quitting to everyone. The benefits will out weigh your day or two withdraws. I've began working out a lot more to pass the time and my social life has gotten slightly better (only been a week) so It does have many benefits. If you're retired, I say toke up, but if you're in your twenties or younger STOP NOW. Don't be a b***h and let yourself be defeated by a plant. I sure we have all made the case that "It's not addictive brah, barely even a drug" well then f*****g prove it.

.......like seriously, watch super high me, if you think quitting is more importan than smoking you will quit, anyone else, learn a little bit of self control, quitting pot is as hard as quitting chocolate, you just smoke more than you eat chocolate. It's called a habit, if I'm wrong then hat means millions of people who chew their fingernails are addicted to fingernails

I don't know why all these people are saying they feel so horrible when they quit. I have gone out of state before and went an entire week without smoking (usually I will smoke 2-3 grams a day for a year) and the only things I experienced are being tired all the time, extremely vivid and weird dreams (they are actually kind of fun to experience, it makes me actually look forward to sleeping more, in a weird way), and the urge to smoke more pot. I have actually quit again (probably just temporarily) and I am experiencing these same symptoms. I would personally have to agree that most of the withdrawal symptoms you guys (or girls ;D) are experiencing are all in your head. I used to be addicted to amphetamine pills (ADHD medication) and I had trouble quitting for over 3 years with terrible withdrawals that made me a horrible person to be around, if you could even get me out of bed. The really interesting thing is, the first day that I made my decision that I did not need it it my life and stopped taking it, the withdrawal symptoms were mild to non-existent, and we are talking about a medication that is similar in structure to METH! If you seriously want to quit, find a cause worth quitting for (family, friends, work, not getting caught by a drug test) and become passionate about it, your withdrawal symptoms will almost disappear.

It is highly addictive i don't know what your talking about or what you're trying to prove on here. i've been smoking it for 4 years about 10 - 15 times a day and whenever i tried to quit i would have some type of break down from the withdraw, just because you can quit cold turkey doesn't mean EVERYBODY can.. and he who calls someone a fool is a fool himself

like i said above all of you crying about your withdraws are in horrible physical shape from laying around like fat asses all the time eating cheese its. im now at about 3 weeks clean still no problems after smoking all day every day for 10+ years. like i said i am opposite of most and have been working out religiously for AWHILE now. try getting into good shape then quit weed and tell me if you still feel like a little girl when you quit, i know you wont. quit being babies and do something proactive dont try to quit and lay on the couch all day of course you will want to smoke m****s. thats like trying to quit opium and going to hang out in an opium den and saying you have huge cravings when you are there.
