I had a white discharge and I thought it was a yeast infection, well I went to the doctor instead of trying to figure it out on my own and my doctor told me it was bacteria and that I had a bacteria infection. She prescribe me metronidazole pills to take twice a day. I have been taking them for 5 days now and I am seeing more white discharge or something on the walls of my vagina than I had before. Is this normal for this to happen while on this medication or should I contact my doctor again?????

* well that is normal to happen, seemingly getting worse, but thats not because of your bacterial infection! when you have a bacterial infection they prescribe you antibiotics that really do get rid of the infection, BUT most women like me and id say this is what happened with you, the antibiotic will cause a yeast infection, so now all you should do is call your doctor and tell her that you have gotten a yeast infection from your meds and she should prescribe you something to get rid of that asap! to prevent that happening again in the future with ANY anitbiotics, make sure you eat plenty of yogurt while on the medications! it usually works and helps prevent getting the yeast!
