I had an MRI with Doratem injection on Wednesday 4/18.18, I lost all control of my muscle during the MRI. The next day, Thursday, 4/19/18, I woke with a fever of 102, I got sick twice, and it induced my period 11 days early. My periods are generally very painful and VERY timely, while this one was neither. I called both the MRI Doctor and my PCP and both said to "monitor my symptoms and this was not a cause of the MRI." I pushed fluids and surrounded myself with heat and blankets that night, waking up in a cold sweat. The fever broke on 4/20/18 as did the period, which is VERY unusual. I always have periods for 4-5 days.

I'm really concerned that this many people have similar experiences, how has this not been more deeply examined?

There has to be some kind of connection with it. I had an MRI with contrast done on 4/17/2018. I am now 10 days late on my period. Not pregnant.

Doctors are being paid to lie or they're just very afraid of the MRI creators. I had my very first MRI on March 6, 2018, 2 days before my period was due. I've been keeping perfect track for several months and discovered I have an exact 26 day cycle, never late. After that MRI I was 6 days late and it lasted only 3 days. I always last 6 days with minimal to no cramping. The cramps were severe, I teared up. I told myself it would fix itself but I'm 3 days late for the next one and still waiting. I am not currently sexuaully active. I'm freaking out, every search is the same. The doctors are being callusly dismissive and in denial. This cruelty feels like a future lawsuit in the making. They need to stop lying.

So glad i found this site as I was thinking I was alone in this! I am peri menopausal (so only get a period every 3-4 months-fairly light lasting about 3-7 days from start to finish) . I started my last on Wed 25th April. & was pretty much finished by my CT scan on the following Monday (30th). About an hour after the scan (with contrast) I started bleeding heavily which hasn't stopped. Real bad cramps, heaps of huge clots & changing pads every hr (I usually only use liners!) Its now been 8 days after the scan & no signs of slowing up. I finally got in for a doctors apt for tomorrow. This really needs to be researched & talked about more cos something is going on that's not right.

I am 10 years post menopausal. I had an MRI with contrast and 2 days later got my period. It lasted for about a month, along with horrible cramping. The doctors said it was not related to the MRI. I disagree. I will never have contrast again... I think if I ever had contrast again I would end up in worse shape with NSF.

I came on because I had the same blackness in my period blood thought maybe it had to do with the contrast die?

OMG wish I had researched before I had my pelvic MRI this morning! Day 4 of period and was starting my mid-cycle "dry day". However after the scan, I immediately lost a lot of blood very quickly and several large clots, one of which was sooo big I am very concerned about it. Waiting for a call back from my gyne. I'm 47 and peri menopausal.

The same thing has happened to me after a brain MRI. I have no answers. Have you heard anything? Is the same thing happening to you?

I just had the same thing happen to me. Haven't had a period since I had an MRI. I've been freaked out by it. I'm 46 and I've had children. I'm hoping how you've been effected doesn't keep you from having children in the future.

Same thing just happened to me yesterday, 11-18-2018. Except my daughter was getting the MRI, I was just standing by her side during the MRI. She got her period about an hour after the mri. Within minutes of her getting her period I got mine as well. I wasn’t even in the machine!! I wasn’t due to have my period for 2 weeks. Strange

I know this post is super old but.... I'm very regular thanks to my birth control, I use it to keep my periods in check; however the last few periods since switching meds have been ULTRA heavy. I went in for my first MRI on the 1st day of my period. Stopped bleeding. Bled lighter than normal on the day after and haven't bled since. I have 5-7 day cycles normally so this is very abnormal for me.
