This is an 11 years later update to this post which I made when I was barely 23. ( :( I was a baby)
Well, period comes on time now however the amount of blood is only a lot on the first day, is no longer steady thought my 5 period days like it used to be prior to that mri, it’s like the blood is gone by the second day. The dizziness that I experience around my period days has not gone away 11 years after this mri. I never had menstrual issues before, I don’t have pain, just weird dizziness and little amount of period blood. Still no answers as to what’s causing this. In fact I came back to search menstrual issues after an mri because im currently having dizzy spells and my period is due soon and I am fed up of not knowing why I get dizzy.

Hi there, I’m aware this is a very old feed, but in the hope that others find it by random for reassurance, like I did via Google, searching ‘MRI caused a menstrual cycle?’ I had full head to base of spine MRI on Wednesday evening, awoke to cramping and started heavy heavy bleeding a few hours later. At first I thought it was in my urine as it had saturated everything which is odd, but it was my period.. 8 days early.. I’m a clock work 1 day heavy 2 day light kinda gal. This cycle was unprecedented for me. it was a bit of a shock but I’m glad I found others who had similar experiences after an MRI. I will email the radiology dep tomorrow so it’s recorded but as far as I can search, no medical research has ever been conducted on this.. I’m not fearful, however it would be interesting to know why? Medically or is it the magnetic field messing with our cycle, like the moon?? Interesting to know
