Hi - I hope someone has some insight on this... i've read a few posts that contain similar symptoms, but nothing matches what i'm experiencing exactly.
a few months ago i experienced a rectal mucus and blood discharge when not going to the bathroom. I told my obgyn and she told me I had a hemorrhoid, and that I shouldn't worry about it. I used hemorrhoid creme and improved my intake of fluids, fiber, and improved my diet. I felt fine for a month and then the symptoms returned worse, this time with out blood or a hemorrhoid(i was even checked at this time for internal hemorrhoids, parasites, and bloody stool). Also, the second time around, I experienced extreme cramping and bloating with digestion. Currently, I'm five days in to a two week completely dairy free diet(my general practitioner suspects I may be lactose intolerant). For the last three days, I have felt incredibly better, but, I have just experienced light mucus when going to the bathroom, tinted with pink blood.
I'd prefer to be lactose intolerant over the other options(i know i have no control over this). I'm also a bit worried because my family(grandfather and all 4 of his siblings) has a history of colon cancer. I'm only 23 right now, and have been very healthy my entire life. Thoughts?

Hi there -
Did you ever get an answer? I happened to stumble upon your post, as I've been having very similar symptoms. I'm lactose intolerant (possibly gluten intolerant as well) and I get cramping, bloating and rectal mucus. I think they're all related. I don't think you have to worry too much about colon cancer at 23. :-D I hope this helps. Good luck!

Going to follow up a post here in the hopes it helps some one because these symptoms are similar to mine.
Lactose intolerance-whenever I get dairy products, i get stomach cramps, gas, flatulence, and anal mucus. This last one itches, sometimes has blood, and goes away in 4-6hrs. The farts are long, loud, and stinky. Stool consistency is like cardboard and can slightly change color to green.
Gluten intolerance-whenever i eat wheat, it’s like lactose intolerance but the gas / flatulence has bits and pieces in it like a shart. There is more blood in the anal mucus. The farts are quick and loud, but with no smell. Stool consistency is creamy, thinner, and light brown.
