Hi Jessicablanket
What you are experiencing is not unusual.
You had said you were going to take a test a couple of days ago. Did you take it?
I don't really think you need to take a test now as you have had a couple of days heavy bleeding.
Yes, it is possible your next period could come at a time you don't quite expect. But I would think it would be close to a normal time.

I didn't take a pregnancy test because I started bleeding. Today I've had light to medium bleeding. It comes and goes/on and off. Is that normal? Is it okay if my period only lasts 3 to 4 days? I'm planning on taking a pregnancy tomorrow just in case, but will the blood mess up the results? Thank you for responding by the way!

Update: I've basically stopped bleeding. Is a 3 day period possible? Or normal?

Hi Jessicablanket
The period after taking EC may be heavier or lighter than usual, so there seems to be no cause for concern.
Blood should not make a difference. Both blood and urine pregnancy tests detect the hCG hormone. They just use a different fluid.

I need a bit of insight. My last period was May 14 until May 19. Usual cycle varies from 28 to 31 days. Usually it's around 30 days so I was expecting my period this June 14 but I still don't have it until now, June 23. Sex was May 25. Took a HPT twice last night and results are both negative. What might be the problem of the delay?

It could be for a few reasons, but you haven't given much background information.
- It could be that you ovulated later than usual
- Maybe you have missed the latest cycle's ovulation altogether.
- May 25 could have been a fertile day if it were a usual cycle, but if you have taken the HPT correctly it should have given a reliable result. However, 1st urine in the morning is the best test.
- It could be that your cycle has not settled down, but you have not said how old you are, or at what age you started having periods.
- It could be the stress of the sexual occasion. What were the circumstances? Was there any tension? Was it your first time?

Appreciate the response. I took another HPT this morning, 10th day of my delayed period, still a negative result. I'm 24, my period started way back when I was I think around 12. It was not the first time, however, there were few attempts to penetrate, around less than 10, but we stopped since it hurt. Usually, it doesn't hurt before, but last time I couldn't tolerate it so we stopped trying. I was expecting my period last June 14 and for the entire week I had a bit of stress over work, the following week after, I was stressing even more since I'm still delayed. Should I get a blood test instead?

Hi Chim.
It seems almost certain you are nor pregnant if you have not had sex since 25 May. The test should be accurate.
Your stress has probably caused the period delay/postponement. The stress would have been compounded by the difficulty of penetration, especially as he had been able to do so previously. It also seems he didn't actually penetrate you, and may not even have had pre-cum (you didn't give much detail), so the likelihood of pregnancy following is even less. Did you use any contraception?
A greater-than-30-day cycle would mean that 25 May would not likely to have been a fertile day.
However, a blood test would be conclusive.

Thank you for your response. Still no sign of my period today, on my 11th day delay already. No contraception was used. I'll visit the doctor soonest.
