So that is a negative result. Your stress may have caused a delayed or even a missed period. So you may not have a period until your next one would have been due.
It would not be so much the question of a delayed or missed period but rather a delayed or missed ovulation, which would lead a delayed or missed period.

Yes. The stress must have affected me. I'll wait it out. Many thanks for your help!

Yes, it is possible. Some women do have periods when pregnant, but they are often lighter.
- 17 Mar 2017 to 21 Apr 2017 = 35 days
- 21 Apr 2017 to 25 May 2017 = 34 days
If your periods usually start about 35 days apart (35-day cycle), then it would suggest that 14 Feb 2017 was not a fertile day. It would also suggest that your June period might have been due 28/29 June, so you would only be 4-5 days late today (3 July 2017).
- Can you state your Nov 2016-Feb 2017 period start dates?
- Have you had sex since 14 Feb 2017? If not, then a test now should be accurate.

You haven't given much information (like the dates your periods started this year and the dates you had sex since your last period) nor what the problems were.
Sometimes women do have periods when they are pregnant, but often when that is the case, the periods are lighter. But your bleeding may be for other reasons. A false positive result is very rare but this may occur for a few reasons.
- You were pregnant, but are no longer
- Sadly, many pregnancies don’t make it beyond these first few weeks. A later negative test could mean your pregnancy hasn’t continued and you’ve experienced an early miscarriage.
- The test wasn’t done correctly
- If you read your pregnancy test after the suggested time, a faint line may develop. It is important to check the instructions for how to use your test correctly.
- The pregnancy test kit was out-of-date
- You may be having fertility treatment involving hCG hormones
- Your home pregnancy test measures the levels of hormone hCG in your urine, looking for the sharp increase in hCG when you become pregnant.
- You’ve recently given birth and your hCG hormone levels are still high
If you are still unsure about whether or not you are pregnant, always visit your medical practitioner

Hi Shepherd999,
My last 2 periods were on May 9th and June 14th (37 days in between). My previous cycles were around 28-31 days but I dont know the specific dates for those. I had unprotected sex on June 9th using the withdrawal method - DUMB, I KNOW :( - I was expecting my period on July 14, but it's been about 14 days after and still nothing.
Unfortunately, I've only been keeping track of my cycle for the past 2 months so I'm not really sure how accurate my own calculations are. Maybe expecting it on July 14 is too early? I've been researching a lot on early pregnancy symptoms because I'm quite worried about the possibility of being pregnant but I'm not mentally prepared to take a pregnancy test yet haha..
I'm also in the process of moving homes. Could that be a reason for the delay as well? I'm experiencing the symptoms that both early pregnancies and delayed periods share. Maybe I'm thinking too much about it to the point where my body has started to react in those ways?! I'm really hoping that the cause of the delay is just from scaring and stressing myself out by looking up pregnancy symptoms. So my questions are:
1. How big are the chances that I'm pregnant?
2. Was expecting my period on July 14th too early?
3. When should I take the pregnancy test?
I know this is a lot to read but any answers or tips would be greatly appreciated!

You say "I had unprotected sex on June 9th", but you had a period starting June 14th. So did you mean "I had unprotected sex on July 9th"?
"May 9th and June 14th (37 days in between)" should be "May 9th and June 14th (36 days in between)"
If you have been stressing lately, then your period is likely to be delayed (as per the May/June cycle)
- How big are the chances that I'm pregnant?
- That is difficult to say. Your period would start a fortnight after Ovulation Day (OD), and you would be considered fertile on OD and the previous 5 days. If your period were to start (or be due) today (25th) it would suggest OD was 11th, which would have indicated 9th July to have been a fertile day.
- Was expecting my period on July 14th too early?
- Probably. Your last cycle was 36 days.
- When should I take the pregnancy test?
- 21 days after your last sex.
- If it were 9th June, then now.
- If 9th July, then 30th July
- 21 days after your last sex.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for the response! Sorry for the typo, it should have said "I had unprotected sex on June 29th." Does that change anything?
